Seline came to the front of the desk and titled her head to look at Darren, “I just happen to notice that my heart keeps beating fiercely when I see you work so hard.”
Darren suddenly clenched his pen, but he still replied coldly, “Then get out of here! No one invite you in.”
“Alright, I just come to say thank you for you bandaging my wound. And I want to invite you to dinner.”
“What kind of trick do you want to play this time” Darren stared at her while closed the file.
“I just want to say thank you to you.” Seline still remained calm, but she pretended to be in chagrin.
Darren was rendered speechless.
When it was five in the afternoon, Seline covered her belly in pain, trying to avoid attention from others.
Darren raised his head to look at her. When seeing Seline lower her head to avoid any eye contact with him, he pouted.
Darren put down the file and stood up, “Come on.”
“What” Seline asked with doubt with her pale lips.
“You want to invite me dinner, right Just for once! Don’t pester me anymore after it!”
“Let’s go to have dinner together” Seline seemed to ignore most of his words except for “dinner”.
When the two stepped out of the office, everyone fixed their eyes on them.
On the way to restaurant, Selina covered her own stomach with her handbag, trying to pretend to be fine.
The gastropathy caused because of her stepmother, Tracy Reed, attacked her at the worst moment.
Selina looked at Darren carefully. The sun shining on his face highlighted his charming facial feature.
Darren, such a rich and refined man born in a privileged family, could win the heart of any women as he wanted, including all kinds of debutantes and even superstars.
But he never seemed to even take a glimpse at those charming ladies.
He came back home in time every night. But the only thing welcomed him was the mockery of her.
Seline felt a bang of pain in her heart at the thought of that. She opened the window and spoke, “Do you always drive back home alone”
When they got married, Darren seldom drove back home as he had a chauffeur serving him specially.
“Sometimes.”
“Do you have an apartment near the company You might get tired if you drive back home from such a far distance, right”
Hearing that, Darren looked at her, as if he was asking, ‘I have never expected you will notice such details.’
Seline lowered her head when their eyes contacted. They had been in marriage in five years, but she still had no idea whether Darren owned an apartment to live near his workplace.
“You don’t need to go back home every day. After all, your house is quite empty. I suggest you buy an apartment near the company and you don’t need to spend much time on commute.”
All of a sudden they noticed a track rushed towards them, where there was a driver shouting fiercely, “Watch out! The brake is broken!”
Seline was frightened and she grabbed his arm subconsciously.
Darren reacted immediately. He turned the steering wheel and stepped on the gas immediately. The car turned to the roadside, but Seline hit her head unexpectedly.
Seline cried out of pain. She curled into his arms, “No! I am so scared!”
She was so afraid of death.
She didn’t want to die in vain as she had just returned to the man she truly loved.
Darren looked serious. He pinned her down and checked her condition. He asked nervously, “Stop crying. Where did you get hurt”
Seline sobbed, “I don’t know. But I feel hurt all over.”
“Let’s go to the hospital.”
Darren was about to drive to the hospital, but he was stopped by Seline, “No need to go to the hospital. I am fine.”
Actually, she only felt a bit pain, but she cherished the care and concern she noticed from Darren.
She was so worried that he might alienate her if he found out she was actually lying.
Darren fixed his eyes on her for a while and then turned around to drive back to the direction they went from.
Seline grabbed the safety belt with confusion.
They arrived at a community near the company. Then Selina followed Darren upstairs. He opened the door.
“Is this your home”
“Come in.” Darren did not answer directly. He squat at the door and changed his shoes.
Seline went into the apartment curiously, but only to find that was looked even emptier than the villa of the Auton’s family, where could not be deemed as home.
She followed him into the bedroom. When she was about to ask more, Darren suddenly turned around. They were getting much closer to each other, “Just move your body a bit. Then you might know which part hurt the most.”
Seline’s heart kept beating violently when she noticed they were so close to each other in this dim room.
“I am fine! Really! I just got hit when you turned the wheel, and I felt a bit hurt.”
Suddenly, Darren grabbed her shoulder. Seline raised her head and found that he was looking at her shoulder seriously.
He moved her shoulder gently. Meanwhile, he twisted her wrist bit by bit slowly.
Suddenly, Selina seemed to recall that someone else had massaged so gently in the same way. She felt a bit confused.
She was wondering if she herself forgot something important.
After checking her for a while, Darren stepped back, “You didn’t hurt your bone.”
Then he walked out of the bedroom.
Seline was still trying to recall that memory flash, but then she heard the noise of the door slammed.
He just left like that
Selina stopped recalling. She curled on the ground and wept.
Then she noticed someone approaching. It was Darren who came to her when a food box.
“I thought you just left me alone…” Tears shed on her face.
“I just went to get something to eat for you.” Darren tried to avoid eye contact with her.
The food box he held was delicate. Selina still remembered that he had brought such a food box home for her. But she had never tasted it.
Darren still loved her so deeply as before.
“Come to eat something.”
When Darren just turned around, he was hugged from behind by Selina. She kept calling his name, “Darren! Darren! Darren!”
Darren kept silent while staring at the wall, but he clenched his hands hard on the box, “Let go of me.”
“No!” Selina even clung harder to him.
She felt so uneasy because she was afraid that Darren no more loved her. And no matter how hard she tried, Darren would never even take a look at her.
“I hate the woman who keeps annoying me.”
“Darren, let’s have sex tonight.”
