Chapter 60 Being Possessed

Book:Miss Mystery Published:2024-5-1

Amy’s words were extremely rude and unpleasant to the ears. Her words had hurt Grace’s dignity and even Grace who was good in tolerance could no longer endure, as she was just an unmarried mistress from a noble family and was sensitive, no matter how scheming she was. Grace finally burst into tears after hearing her words; she turned into the side consort and cried in her arms. “Mother, look at what Amy sis has said to me!”
The side consort was anxious and raged. How could Amy say those words when the princes are still here? Especially in front of the eighth prince! The side consort pushed Grace aside; she walked towards Amy and gave her a hard slap on the face.
Her strength was so great and Amy was still having injuries that she almost collapsed to the ground if she was not held by Madam Barbosa.
Amy touched her face and stared at the side consort in disbelief. “Mother, how could you hit me for Grace?”
“Shut up! She’s your biological elder sister!”
Amy suddenly laughed out loud. “Mother has actually been biased to this extent. You care for Grace for everything and has never thought for me! Mother could fawn over the princes for Grace’s sake, but what about me?”
She looked around, as if light suddenly dawned on her, she sneered, “Now I understand why mother wanted to encourage Luna sis and Mary sis to come over here. You said it’s all for my own good, to get rid of Mary sis and let Luna sis marry that paralyzed waste, yet it all turns out to be fake! Mother was actually doing that for Grace!
“Mother must have known the princes are coming to Munashii Temple so that’s why you brought us sisters here. Mother, oh mother, what a good mother you are! You’ve cudgeled your brain for Grace yet just shove me to a paralyzed waste like that?”
Being called a “paralyzed waste” like that by a mistress in front of so many people, no decent man would be able to withstand that kind of humiliation. Kace immediately propelled his wheelchair to the exit and spoke coldly when he was moving, “Your Highness, I’m getting back to the palace now to let father go and apologize at the regent palace. The requirement of the regent household is too high and us Gladstone family could not meet it!”
It was obvious that he wanted to cancel the marriage. The side consort would have laughed out of joy in the past, yet now she wanted to cry but without tears. She had hoped to cancel the marriage as she loved Amy the most. The Gladstone family would not request Amy to marry Kace who had a bad illness if Amy was not renowned as the number one talented mistress in the city and there was not a good relationship between them and the Debeur family.
What the side consort initially had in mind was as long as Grace was not married, Amy would still be a bachelorette though she was engaged. She would nicely lay out a plan to let the Gladstone family cancel the marriage willingly as there was still plenty of time and there would definitely be chance to do so.
Now that her aim was achieved, the side consort could not feel happy no matter how. The act to cancel the marriage at this point of time must indicate that the Gladstone family wanted to be hostile towards the Debeur family. Moreover, there were so many princes at the scene to testify that it was the Debeur family who caused the revocation of the marriage, not the Gladstone family.
How would that shrew from the Gladstone family not carry a cleaver to the regent palace and chop her up when she knew about this? If Ralph knew about this too, it was foreseeable that her life afterwards would not be good too.
What made the side consort more frightened was Amy actually disclosed her plan which was to get rid of both Luna and Mary and her action was likely to cost her life.
She could not endure it any longer. She was afraid that Amy would cause a bigger trouble if she continued to stay. “Shut your mouth up now!” Kace had already gone far and it was impossible to chase him back now, therefore she could only choose to keep the princes’ mouth tightly shut. “Please don’t take it serious, your Highnesses. That girl’s only gone mad…”
“Oh, you’re right, your Ladyship. I can see it too. The third mistress looks like she’s actually been possessed,” Damma who had not spoken suddenly chipped in.
The side consort had been utterly exhausted from her anxiety and did not have the strength to deal with Damma, yet she could not explode in front of the princes and she asked patiently after suppressing her anger, “What do you mean?”
Damma swirled his horsetail whip, chanted “all hail the god” and continued, “Didn’t your Ladyship notice it just now? The third mistress has been possessed.”
“Oh, master you’re right!” Nean yelled dramatically following him, “I heard that the third mistress of the Debeur family has used to be composed and gentle, and was kind to the servants, yet I saw her stabbing her own maiden with a golden hairpin when I invited the side consort and the mistresses to the incense burning session. Tsk, tsk, that maiden was all bloody and almost dying from the stabs.”
The side consort finally realized that the two priests were setting a trap for her to jump in, yet she was baffled as that trick was supposed to be applied on Mary. Shouldn’t they accuse Mary being possessed instead of Amy?
Damma approached Amy pompously, he stooped and asked her with an amiable look, “Miss, sorry to bother you, can I have a look at miss’s pulse?”
Amy had been disdainful towards these priests; she was more provoked when both Damma and Nean had accused her for being possessed. She struggled and wanted to slap Damma. “How dare you defile me like that? You old crap! I’m the daughter of Lord Regent and I’ll let father tear this temple apart once I tell him!”
Damma was experienced after all, he dodged Amy’s slap easily by leaning himself slightly to the side. At the same time, his legs moved and he reached to her back. He patted the back of her head and chanted, “Show yourself, evil monster!”
Amy was in a daze at first, yet she suddenly showed powerful strength until she managed to struggle out of Madam Barbosa’s control and dashed towards the side consort without even caring her own injury.
Damma took a few steps backward and shouted, “Hurry up and suppress the third mistress! She’s been possessed!”
And just like what the side consort had discussed with Damma, several priests sprang into the main hall from the outside with ropes on their hands wanting to tie Amy up, while Amy was bawling with a ferocious look and disheveled hair, forbidding anyone to approach her which made her looked exactly like an evil monster.
The side consort was startled, she felt that there was something stuck in her heart yet she could not remember which part had gone wrong. She could only see Amy messing around before her while hugging Grace who was trembling and held by Madam Barbosa.
James had just witnessed Amy sweeping a plate of fruits used for worship from the incense case to the ground when he emerged from the side hall.
Jared raised his chin towards Amy and smiled, “Ninth brother, do you think that Lord Regent is having a bad luck? Why is his daughter being possessed soon after his other daughter has just recovered from her idiotic illness?”
James was reluctant to hear Jared mentioning Mary like that, he wrinkled his brow and rumbled, “I heard that the fifth mistress of Debeur family did not get the illness, but was poisoned by someone instead.”
Jared stared at James with a curious look and smiled pursing his lips. “I’m having a completely new appraisal on you seeing you defend the fifth mistress like this. Yet, it’s still just a rumor and nobody knows the truth. If the fifth mistress was truly poisoned by someone, Lord Regent must have gone outraged and searched the entire city to find the culprit.”
Iago could not bear seeing Jared making James feel awkward and smiled lightly, “You’ve made it wrong, sixth brother. What if the culprit was inside regent household?”
Jared frowned. His words did make sense, only the one whose existence in the regent household was being threatened would want to lay murderous hands on such a little girl, since he or she must be from the regent palace. So who would that person be…? Jared’s sight inevitably focused on the side consort.
Ivo curved his lips and smiled lightly, he turned to James, “It’s enough, and you’ve stolen the limelight too much today. Do you know how to answer when we get back to the city and father asks about it?”
James nodded slightly. “Second brother does not have to worry about me. I’m the most useless one among us, even if I did have some thoughts on the fifth mistress of the Debeur family, father would not be suspicious to me and he might think it’s the best solution instead. As for second brother, I think second brother needs to worry about fifth brother as it seems like the third mistress has laid her eyes on fifth brother.”
Ivo chuckled, “There’s no need for that. It would be hard based on the third mistress’s current look.”
James fell into silence. The third mistress’s deed would be spread out in just a few days and it would then be hard for her to marry a decent guy. He was afraid that no one in the city would dare to marry her and she could only marry someone living afar.
Amy was still messing around in the main hall. She used to be weak in strength, yet even the strongest priests could not deal with her as if she was truly being possessed.
Even Madam Barbosa’s face had turned pale and her voice trembled, “My Ladyship, could the third mistress really be possessed?”
“Nonsense!” The side consort was shivering too, yet she forced herself to be calm, “I’ll tear your mouth apart if you dare talking nonsense again!”
“Oh, don’t be so rage, my Ladyship,” Nean spoke with a serious look, “I think the servant’s right. If she’s not possessed, why would the third mistress even want to stab her biological mother with her golden hairpin? As I was accompanying your Ladyship and the mistresses to burn the incense, the third mistress actually tossed such expensive bead flowers at me for no reason!”
Nean then deliberately raised his voice so that the princes in the hall and the servants outside could hear him clearly, “That’s still okay, as I’m just an insignificant person. Yet the third mistress not only tossed the bead flowers towards your Ladyship, she humiliated her own elder sister with her words and wanted to kill your Ladyship with a golden hairpin! If the fifth mistress did not block the attack with her flesh-and-blood body for your Ladyship, the one in a coma now would be your Ladyship!”
