Mary had never exploded in front of the side consort; she wanted to act obedient in front of Ralph when she was transported to the present. She tried to pretend weak and innocent and had never opposed the side consort, yet today, she criticized Amy directly in front of the side consort and was not afraid to embarrass her.
Amy had a hot temper and could not wait for someone to argue with her. She pushed Gwen away and sneered, “Mary Debeur, you better talk things out, what have I said wrong?” She pointed at Luna and said hatefully, “If she dared to do it, why can’t I say it out loud?”
Luna’s face flushed as if almost dripping blood, her hand which was holding Mary’s hand trembled.
Mary grasped Luna’s hand. Luna was shocked; she lifted her head and saw the determination in Mary’s eyes. She was touched and could not help but drop her tears.
Mary lamented, Luna might have bullied the original owner of this body, yet since she was transported here, what she noticed was just Luna turning a blind eye and deaf ear to how Grace and Amy bullied her and she was not counted as a sinful person.
Even if Luna did commit sins before, Mary had given her the necessary punishment. Luna almost lost her reputation back then. Although the Cynthian Empire was not very strict towards women, yet a woman who lost her reputation could only choose to either become a nun or commit suicide.
Moreover, Luna had treated her nicely as a sister these days; Mary was the first one she thought about whenever there was anything delicious or amusing. Mary too, had already forgiven Luna; she would not sleep under the same roof with her if she did not see Luna as the one closest to her.
“How amusing are Amy sis’ words. Amy sis has said that Luna sis used to bully me together with Amy sis and Grace Sis, and since Amy sis could not lie in front of mother, that means Amy sis and Grace sis have used to bully me in the past!”
Mary made a deliberate sad face, she turned to the side consort and choked, “Mother, were you aware that Amy sis and Grace Sis were bullying me? Or did you let them do it even though you knew it? Didn’t mother say you’ll treat me like your biological daughter in front of father? So is that how mother treat her biological daughter?”
Mary pretended to be more and more sorrowful as she spoke, she wept, “Would mother behave like that if Amy sis was the one getting bullied?”
The side consort could not respond, she was the one acting in the past, but when did this little idiot also become such a good actor now?
Seeing the side consort keeping quiet, Mary went angry and headed towards the outside holding Luna’s hand, “Well, turns out that what mother has said in front of father was false and the words didn’t count! I’m leaving here to talk things out in front of father and I’ll not become mother’s eyesore by continuing staying here!” She lifted her leg and prepared to leave.
The side consort was still startled and not able to respond. Grace then quickly went forward and held both Mary and Luna back, “Why is Mary sis getting so angry? Amy sis was just joking and she didn’t actually mean it.”
She then smiled and gave Luna a light push, “Come on, Luna sis, we grew up together since child and share an unusual bond, especially Amy sis, she treats you even better than I who is her biological sister. Now that you have ignored Amy sis because of Mary sis, Amy sis must not feel good and would say offensive words. How could you not appease both Amy sis and Mary sis but be biased towards Mary sis?” She started to blame Luna.
Luna gritted her teeth not saying a word, yet her tears had fallen down. She was born a peasant, her biological mother, Concubine Talbert had a low status and she was not much loved by Ralph. Who is she now that Grace and Amy had the side consort to have their back? She could only endure the sufferings.
Seeing Luna getting bullied, Mary sneered and shoved Grace’s hand away. She then replied coldly, “How strange, what do you mean? Grace sis. Are you saying that I didn’t grow up with you since child? And the bond between us is not strong? What now, you’re allowing Luna sis to hang out with Amy sis but not me? Am I not matched enough to hang out with my sisters?”
Mary bombarded Grace with words until she could not keep up, her face flushed out of anxiety.
Mary was not ready to let Grace go yet, she had known that there must be conspiracy going when the side consort invited her and Luna to Munashii Temple enthusiastically. She saw Grace and the side consort planning something when she entered and Grace was even angry at Sandy and Molly when they did not notify them, therefore it was obvious those two were going to harm her today.
It would be too late if she did not make a big fuss to ruin their plans.
“Speaking about this, I have to defend for Luna sis,” Mary pulled Luna to her side and gave Grace a grim smile, “Why did I find Grace sis’ words just now awkward? Had Grace Sis treated Luna sis as a pet? It’s for Luna sis to decide who she wants to come close to or hang out with! Why does she need to listen to Grace Sis?”
No matter how good was Grace at pretending, she could not endure it anymore, her face went gloomy and her attitude became cold, “Mary sis, don’t you level unfounded accusations against me, when did I ever say that?”
Mary secretly gave Luna a pinch and turned to her, “Luna sis, why do you only cry at this moment?”
Luna slightly recovered. Her motto had always been ‘treating others the way they treat you’. Now that Mary treated her sincerely, she could not bear to see her fighting the battle alone. Thinking about this, Luna made an even more sorrowful face and wept, “Mary sis, I felt wronged!”
Upon finishing her sentence, she actually cried out loud and her tears were not fake. Her emotions were stirred remembering her petty in front of Grace and Amy and she could not stop her tears.
Mary exclaimed secretly in her heart, Luna was clever enough to know how to cooperate with her upon receiving her signal. She dropped a few tears too, then pulled Luna and headed to the outside while saying, “Let’s go back, Luna sis. Let’s tell father that mother has allowed Grace and Amy sis to bully us.”
Grace stomped her foot anxiously, she turned around and yelled, “Mother!”
The side consort finally responded, she gave a profound look and smiled lightly, “Luna, Mary, come back! Why, it’s only some quarrels among sisters, how could you two actually be annoyed by it?” She then quickly threw Madam Barbosa a look.
Madam Barbosa understood her meaning and led four strong servants to stand at the entrance, blocking Luna and Mary’s way completely.
Madam Barbosa gave a false smile and said, “It’s not a good time for the two mistresses to return home. Unfortunately, the horses pulling the carriage suddenly had bad stomachache and could not walk further. So are the two mistresses going to walk back home?”
Mary was shocked; the side consort was now choosing the hard way. She could struggle her way out if it was only her alone, yet now that Luna was at her side, she needed to be more cautious on her action.
Although she was shocked, there was not a single panic look on Mary’s face, she continued weeping, “Then we’ll get back once the horses have recovered, we’ll definitely tell father about that!”
The side consort suddenly smiled gently, she walked towards Mary and Luna and held them back, then spoke with a soft voice, “You two girls are still children indeed, and how could you bother your father with such a tiny matter? Your father has been busy enough dealing with the state affairs; it’s not what good children should behave if you two still bother him with this.”
While saying that, she pulled Mary and Luna towards the place that she had sat and handed a few pieces of cake to Mary, “My child, have a taste, I remember it’s your favorite in the past.”
Mary was alert and was afraid that the side consort had adulterated the cake; she squeezed the cake slightly with her palm but did not put in inside her mouth.
The side consort did not mind her doing that, she let out a deep sigh and pretended to be concerned, “Your third sister has used to have such a bad temper, now that she’s injured, her temper has worsened. You’re sisters after all, please do be more tolerant towards each other.”
Grace then said to Amy duly, “Amy sis, do apologize to Luna sis and Mary sis!” She threw Amy a look as she turned her back towards Mary and Luna.
Amy was baffled, yet she knew something big was going to happen from Grace and the side consort’s look, she then replied reluctantly, “It’s my fault saying those things just now; I hope Luna sis and Mary sis do not take it to heart.”
Grace clapped her hand and smiled, “Way to go! We’re sisters after all, how could we have hatred towards each other? Wait until Amy sis has recovered, you guys should come to my place and I’ll cook a few dishes for you to eat with wine once we return, how does that sound?”
She then turned to Luna and smiled, “Luna sis has a pair of delicate hands and is good in making wines, dews and so on. I hope Luna sis would not be stingy till then and would serve us sisters with some self-made splendid wine.”
Grace finished her sentence yet she noticed Luna was still crying and Mary was weeping. Amy was having an aloof expression and did not show any appreciation. The room was quiet and no one gave Grace any response, leaving her feeling awkward to the extreme.
