Lawrence stares at the ring with satisfaction, and then cups Nancy’s face and gently gives her a kiss.
The shopper has made the bill. She gives back the golden card to Lawrence and congratulates, “I hope you two a happy life!”
Just as they walk out of the store, Lawrence’s phone rings. It is a phone call from his mother. He then answers the phone, “Mom, what’s the matter?”
There comes his mom’s worried voice from the other end of the phone, “Lawrence, come to the company, Serena tries to commit suicide. Hurry up!”
Lawrence wrinkles his eyebrows and glances at Nancy who stands beside him, and then replies in a clam voice, “Okay, I will come right now.”
Nancy feels that something is wrong, so she asks in confusion, “What’s wrong.”
“Come to the company with me.” Lawrence pulls her to the car. Nancy feels unease. Are they going to the company?
Then all the staffs will get to know their relationship. She ponders for a while and then suggests, “I don’t want to come to the company. I have resigned from it. I don’t want…”
“Nancy, what are you afraid of? I am always by your side. Don’t worry!” Lawrence interrupts her and starts the engine. Although he is worrying in heart, he drives at a stable speed, fearing that if he drives at an excessive speed, the woman who sits beside him would be scared.
When they arrive at the company, Lawrence holds Nancy’s hand and walks into the elevator, without the fear of letting others know their relationship. The onlookers all think it unbelievable and their expressions are interesting, as if they have been forced to eat flies.
On the 38th floor, in the VIP guestroom.
Lawrence mother is sitting on the sofa and is consoling Serena, who just tried to commit suicide by cutting her wrist. There is an extremely small wound on her wrist, with some coagulated bloodstains on it.
When Lawrence and Nancy step into the room, they see the woman on the sofa.
When Nancy shifts her gaze on the wound on the woman’s wrist, her heart misses a beat, and then she subconsciously looks up at Lawrence.
Lawrence nods at her and comforts her with his eyes. He walks over, holding Nancy’s hand, and asks, “Mom, what’s the matter?”
His mom looks at them. And then her gaze suddenly fixed on their intertwined hands, as well as the dazzling and eye-catching rings. She recalls Thomas Ellis’ words and sighs, “You obtained your marriage certificate?”
“Yes!” Lawrence deliberately ignores the sadness in Serena’s eyes and goes straight to the point.
But Nancy can’t do it as Lawrence did. She and Serena look at each other. All of a sudden, Nancy’s feels ashamed of her inferiority. That woman is so beautiful!
She has an oval face, fair skin, pink lips and white teeth. Her eyes are watery, as if tears would fall down from them at any moment. Everyone who sees this appearance would not be able to resist such beauty and would just feel tender and protective towards her.
Lawrence subconsciously tightens his grip on Nancy’s hand. Nancy still glances at the woman on the sofa, not knowing what to do next.
Serena stands up and asks in a weak voice, “Lawrence, is this the woman you mentioned before. You fall for this woman?”
“Yes. I am determined that I will only marry her in my life!” Lawrence looks straight into her eyes unyieldingly. He is not affected by Serena’s delicate beauty.
“Then what about me?” Serena shouts, big tears falling down her face as if they have breached the dyke. “Then where is my position? Did you forget the promise we made in childhood? You said you will never abandon me and will always be waiting for me no matter what kind of decision I make! But now you and this woman are together. What do you think of me?”
Upon hearing these, Nancy wants to cast off Lawrence’s hand. However, he grips her so tightly!
Even she herself, as a woman, cannot resist the tears of such a delicate woman. Let alone Lawrence as a man! A sense of inferiority wells up in Nancy’s heart. At this moment, she just wants to find a place to hide herself.
“When you went abroad without caring about anything, you should have expected that that is the end of our relationship. Now I find my Miss Right. I’ve let go of our past affairs! Why do you come back and seek for embarrassment for yourself?” There is coldness in Lawrence’s eyes. He is quite clear about how stonehearted Serena, who always disguises herself as a weak woman.
