Lily is startled and gasps, asking, “Nancy, are you two fallen in love?”
“No, bullshit… It’s not true. Lily, please, let me explain to you. I have no relationship with him.” Nancy Moore is so nervous that she constantly waves her hands.
Lawrence Ellis blinks and a trace of smile emerges in his eyes, showing that he is pleased with her fear and bewilderment.
“Oh, you are stammering. How can I believe you?” A stiff smile shows up on the face of Lily. She clenches her fists and pretends to be calm, saying, “I have some matters, so I will not bother you. See you later.”
Seeing Lily leaving the restaurant, Nancy Moore has an ominous presentiment. She subconsciously opens the work group. As expected, she sees a photo sent by Lily. And the whole WeChat group becomes active because of the photo.
Winnie: [This is Nancy Moore and Lawrence Ellis, am I right?]
Marina: [Are they having a date?]
Lily: [That’s true. She’s so cheeky and hypocritical. She told me that she is not interested in Lawrence before, but she seduces him secretly.]
Winnie: [Oh my God! What a World!]
Marina: [Why doesn’t she look at herself? She is a middle-aged woman, is she having a relationship with a much younger man?]
Nancy Moore is so annoyed. The female colleagues are all taking about their relationship and scolding her as shameless.
She closes the WeChat and scolds Lawrence Ellis angrily, “You promised me that you will let anyone know about it. What do you mean now?”
“I mean that I violate the agreement, so you don’t have to pay me the compensation.” Lawrence Ellis picks up chopsticks and imitates her way of eating noodles. He is gobbling, but he still looks elegant.
“You!” Nancy Moore suddenly stands up and puts her hands on the table to hold herself, questioning, “So, from beginning to end, you are kidding me. You take me as a pawn to go against your father, right?”
“Yes. But it is a fact that you were drunk that night and slept with me.” Lawrence Ellis takes out a tissue to wipe the corners of his mouth, and says flatly, blocking all her complaints and questions.
Nancy Moore momentarily fails to find any words to contradict him. She is so angry that she takes out 20 dollars and slams it on the table. Then she strokes away, calls a taxi and goes back home.
Lawrence Ellis glances at the banknotes on the table and laughs, thinking that this big sister is really funny.
For the next consecutive days, all the staffs in the company are eager to gossip about the romantic affairs between Nancy Moore and Lawrence Ellis.
When someone discloses that Lawrence Ellis is actually the successor of the Ellis Group, they become crazier about this scandal.
All the gossipers think that Nancy Moore is indeed a scheming bitch, who has learned that Lawrence Ellis is the successor of the company and therefore took actions in advance.
Numerous rumors push Nancy to the front line, making her almost smothery.
Nancy Moore has been staying at home during these days, and only goes out from her room for meals.
Her family members find that there is something wrong with Nancy, so they designate Tammy Moore to ask her. Tammy asks, “What’s wrong with you, elder sister? You look soulless these days, it’s really abnormal.”
Nancy Moore hides herself, including her head, in the quilt. She is so lazy that she even doesn’t poke out her head. She replies faintly, “I’m fine. I am crossed in love and career, so I just want to think over my life in peace. Don’t worry me.”
Tammy Moore keeps on guessing, “Are you crossed in love? Then who is the man who came to our house that day.”
Nancy Moore, who hides herself in the quilt, rolls her eyes faintly and doesn’t reply.
“To be honest, that young hunk is really good. He is so handsome. What a pity!”
“But big sister, don’t be sad. Mom has arranged numerous blind dates for you. You will not be upset for too long.”
Nancy Moore widens her eyes and comes out of the quilt, asking, “What did you say?”
“Elder sister, do you forget mom’s words? We must help you to get married as quick as possible; otherwise, all of us will have to eat vegetables only.” Tammy Moore gives her an evil smile. She just wants to enjoy this interesting play, but doesn’t care about her sister’s condition.
