“I have to solve the problem with speed by myself. I can’t disturb their plans.”
Chase murmured as he looked at the dark space outside of the window.
The scientists now had their own significant subjects, such as developing the space warcraft and antigravity, so Chase couldn’t bother them.
The shuttles couldn’t fight in the war, and M-100 was unavailable in space, so Chase asked those scientists to develop the space warcraft.
And the antigravity was also the highest priority, which caused so many soldiers to die on Mars.
In a word, all the scientists had their subjects.
“Time goes so fast. It’s one year after we leave earth.” Chase took a heavy puff and then sighed.
Many events had happened this year, but the carefree life on earth was still in Chase’s memory.
Various senses after they left earth crowded in Chase’s mind, such as the dangerous monsters on Mars, the surprise feast, the tough walking on Titan, the unexpected abundant resources, and the leaving forced by the little planet.
“Just move forward. I’m going to develop the speed as soon as the ship leaves the Solar System. Hope we can get to Proxima Centauri as soon as possible.”
Chase driven those senses out of his mind and then continued his vagrancy.
In the time after they entered the space, mankind had gotten a principle that the most dangerous was not someplace where the falling stones walloped, but somewhere silent.
Because the silent space meant that they were much far away from any planet.
They couldn’t get supplies from anywhere and would perish from hunger.
The long walking time in space was just the most invincible enemy!
Chase began to speed up as he thought those kinds of matters.
He was starved to leave Solar System before, but now he began to feel lost when he was about to leave.
“Alas!”
Chase sighed and came to his mind.
Ten days passed fast, and The Hope got to the track of Uranus.
“We’re getting further and further away from Sun,” Chase said.
“We may not return forever.” Reba sighed.
Chase shook his head and suddenly wanted to smoke as he saw the darker space.
“Oh! We have to leave something memorable in the Solar System!” Reba suggested.
Chase was stunned and then began to think.
Reba took the cup of coffee and drank. Her eyes moved from Chase’s face to outside space and also immersed into her pondering.
No one knew what she was thinking.
“We can make a monument and send it revolving around the Sun.” Chase suddenly proposed.
Reba was called back by Chase. “Monument? What kind of monument?”
Chase touched the screen and then showed Reba the image of earth.
“We can make sure that mankind on earth died out. We left the hope for them, but they didn’t get it.”
“They would have been able to deal with the virus as long as they united together, but they met their dooms because of power struggles.” Chase sighed.
They left earth, but they could gain the information on earth through the advanced satellites.
“You mean, we make a monument to mark our origin in Solar System, right?” Reba got Chase’s thought.
“Yes. We originated from earth and Solar System, so it’s our last memory.” Chase nodded.
Reba said. “There are only us who survived, and we may not come back forever, so I think we can call the monument “The Tomb of Mankind.””
Then she looked at Chase to wait for his reply.
Chase drank coffee and then nodded. “Good idea.”
“So, what should we do?” Reba asked.
“Are you interested in it? I want to do it myself.” Chase said.
“Great! I’ll help you.” Reba smiled.
Then Chase and Reba used the stored rare materials to make a tombstone.
It was ten meters high and one meter thick, like a little mental planet in space.
Then Chase made a battery with nuclear fusion technology, which could provide the tombstone with power for millions of years.
Chase planned a track for it, and the tombstone would revolve around Sun, like a light lightening the dark space.
And there were words on it.
“The Tombstone of Seven Billion Human!”
“Made by Chase Lu, and Reba Lu!”
