“Want me to help?”
Edward offered to Sophia, trying to get out of bed slowly. Today, according to the schedule, Sophia was allowed to go home.
After careful consideration and making sure that the gunshot wound to his stomach was dry, the team of doctors invited him to outpatient treatment at his own home. Since morning, Sophia seemed enthusiastic.
She can’t wait to breathe free air because she too bored for days, just curled up in bed. Edward even deliberately did not come to the office today because he wanted to accompany Sophia to care for her needs.
After all, there was no one else she could rely on now but herself. He also didn’t want to let Tristan take over all of this even though, from his status, that man had more right to do anything. Luckily, his best friend never raised his nose again after the last time he got into an argument with Sophia. So, for now, Edward is winning a lot.
“Don’t bother,” Sophia said when she managed to get out of bed. “If you help at all, I can’t learn to adapt, Ed. Later on, I’ll be slow to heal and even bother you.”
Edward smiled. While continuing to stuff Sophia’s clothes into the suitcase, he responded to the woman’s words in front of him.
“It doesn’t matter, Sophia. I’m just glad that you can bother you all the time. That means, the two of us can continue to see each other every day. In fact, I intend to move to your house so that I can monitor and take care of you 24 hours,” he joked as if there was no burden.
“Don’t be crazy, Sebastian Edwardo!” Hearing those words, Sophia chuckled. At that time, she immediately protested. “What would people say if you had to live with me. I’m not like the young women you hang out with,” she accused.
“Geez, Sophia, I was just kidding.” Edward immediately pouted. Stopped the movement of his hands to cast a protesting gaze at the woman he liked so much.
“Besides, why do you still like to accuse me carelessly. I haven’t played around with other women in a long time.”
Instead of believing it, Sophia narrowed her eyes. Throwing a look as if doubting what Edward had just said.
“Oh yes?”
“For God’s sake, Sophia. Don’t be fooled by what Nicholas says. Just so you know, I’ve never seen or made any appointments with any woman other than you.”
“Yes, Yes, Yes.” Sophia nodded. End the argument with Edward.
After ensuring everything was neatly arranged in the suitcase, they decided to go home immediately. When was arrived, Mikayla was already there to welcome the princess. The middle-aged woman slowly and carefully led the princess and Edward to rush into the dining room.
“Mama has prepared food for the two of you to eat. Eat first, then continue your activities.” Sophia and Edward complied. After all, the two hadn’t eaten any heavy meals since morning. Only bread Sophia ate to swell her stomach for a while.
“After this, I’ll go home first, Sophia. I have a few things to do. Maybe tonight or tomorrow morning, I’ll visit again,” Edward said as he shoved the spaghetti carbonara into his mouth. “Don’t bother,” Sophia replied. I’m not alone in this house, Ed. There was Mama and the other servants. You can finish your work first. You come back to my house when you’re free and accessible.”
Edward chuckled. Instead of agreeing, he put on a scowl. “You can’t, Sophia. I’ll miss you later.”
“You’re too much!” Both of them laughed together. Continuing the conversation for a while, then Sophia led Edward to the front because he had to say goodbye to go home. After making sure Edward’s image disappeared from sight, slowly Sophia with assisted by his mother to walk into the room.
As soon as he opened the door, she was surprised by something. Her eyes were fixed on the decorations and the neat arrangement of luxury items that filled the room. Before she had time to ask, her mother had already explained.
“You must be wondering, right? How come your room looks like this?”
Sophia was still looking around the room in amazement. She knew very well the new things that were neatly arranged in her room.
“Yes, why did you have to change the decoration of my room like this?” every corner of the room. “It wasn’t Mama who did all this.” Sophia was shocked. Stopping her steps, she had to turn around to look directly into her mother’s face.
“Not Mama? Then who?”
“Your husband,” Mikayla answered without the slightest hesitation. “Tristan did all this, Sophia. He deliberately bought everything he said was similar to yours at his house. Tristan also asked Mama not to refuse him one bit. He ordered you to accept what he’s done this time.”
Sophia was silent. Not sure how to respond. If she was weak, her heart would naturally waver. While she was determined not to have anything to do with a creature called Tristan Quartararo. “This is you hoping I will forgive you, you are wrong, Tristan.”
Meanwhile, at the Quartararo family’s residence, Aurora looked confused to find the whereabouts of Tristan, who had not seen the bridge of his nose. After checking here and there, he finally found the man who is now was sitting contemplating in the reading room. There were piles of business books strewn randomly on the table, while in the man’s hand was a blue folder that he had probably just finished reading.
“Jesus, Tristan. I’ve been around looking for you. Didn’t you hear me shouting your name earlier?” complained Aurora, half annoyed. The woman immediately took a seat right next to the white man.
“I’ve been here all along, Aurora. Maybe because I was too busy reading books, that’s why I didn’t hear you call me,” Tristan replied casually. The man’s gaze didn’t even move from the paper he was holding.
“It’s already eight o’clock. Aren’t you having dinner?” Aurora asked, glancing at the watch on her wrist. “Perhaps the food Samanta served has gone cold because it hasn’t been touched for too long. I’ve been starving for waiting for you all this time.”
This time Tristan raised his face. He flashed a smile and then chuckled a little.
“If you’re hungry why don’t you just eat? I didn’t ask you to wait for me. You’re not a child that I have to feed, are you?” Aurora’s snort became clearer after hearing Tristan’s words that seemed casual.
“It’s you! Don’t the rules in this house never change? Always eat together, whether breakfast or dinner?”
Tristan nodded. Aurora wasn’t wrong. Before the woman came to her house, Tristan’s parents had made such a rule. And he has applied it to all members of the house until now. “But I’m not hungry right now, Sophia.”
“Huh? Did you say just now? Sophia?” Aurora scowled, even more when Tristan sounded the wrong name. “Ah, I know, now. You’re thinking about your wife, aren’t you? Could it be that you’re afraid to separate from Sophia? That’s why I’ve seen you gloomy at every turn.”
“Jesus, what are you talking about Aurora?”
Tristan immediately refuted the accusations of the woman next to him. “Don’t make accusations.”
“Just admit it, Tristan. After Sophia didn’t see you in the hospital the other day, you still want to live with her? She doesn’t even look like she wants to be your wife anymore. Besides, your business with the Adelaide family is over, right? Tristan nodded. everything is done as expected.”
“That means, your business with Sophia should also be finished. Never forget your words. You yourself promised me you would divorce that woman when your plan is successful.”
Tristan was silent for a moment. He certainly hasn’t forgotten that one promise. It has been ingrained in his brain for a long time. No matter what happens, he will still marry Aurora no matter what the conditions are.
“I’m tired of hearing those words, Aurora. You know, I’ve never broken a promise with you. So, you don’t need to keep bringing it up like now.”
“Good.” Aurora nodded immediately. “Then quickly sign the divorce suit file that Sophia sent the other day. Then, arrange as soon as possible when we will get married, Tristan. I’m tired of having to wait for you all the time like now. It’s time for me to enjoy what I should have got a long time ago.”
Aurora immediately got up, then left Tristan just like that in the reading room. While the man seemed to be silent in thought, he grabbed the file he was holding seconds later. Sign it now, or put it off for a while.
