The elder’s place was a pretty large place at the far end of the pack.
It was located in an isolated place in the pack. The scenery there gave off an old vibe.
Rusty woods and the smell of flowers and rusty irons. It was one of the most cleaned places in the pack and at the same time, it still looked unkempt because of the flowers that were constantly falling from trees.
Though some maids would constantly come to clean the place up every two or three hours. But because of the incident in the pack, it looked rather unkempt.
Jefferson sighed as he walked toward the building while looking around and admiring the scenery.
When he was younger it was one of his favourite spots in the pack as he would be able to see all that was going on in the pack as there was a mountain right behind the elder’s place.
So he would climb the mountain whenever he was unhappy or tired to enjoy the calm scenario of the pack.
At that time his sister was very caring and wouldn’t allow him out of her sight for more than an hour. She would teach him all that he didn’t understand or what he needed to know and some other things.
But ever since he assumed the position of the Alpha, his sister suddenly changed and became more of a whore.
He didn’t know why she had always believed that the two of them had been cursed by the moon goddess. Though she had been looking for her mate and she never found him.
These were the random thoughts that were running through Jefferson’s mind. He wanted to push them away but found it rather impossible to do so. He wanted to think of what to say to the elders when he got to their front but his head was blank and was only filled with those thoughts.
Though he was rather close to the elders when he was younger he didn’t know if they would try to make things hard for him because he was sure they would have been looking for a way to talk to him.
But the fact was that he had always been busy. Either he was taking care of a matter in the pack or he was watching over his mate as she fainted a month ago.
Jefferson was so engrossed in his thoughts he didn’t notice he was already at the door of the elders.
It was not until his head hit the door did he realize he was standing at the front.
Sighing softly he pushed all the thoughts to the back of his mind and pushed the door open.
Immediately the door creaked loudly as it opened. Inside was as dark as the night with nothing as a source of light except the open window radiating a little bit of light inside.
Though it was dark Jefferson could see rather well despite the darkness.
Looking around he could see the six elders sitting around the table in the centre of the room.
Though the elders looked rather weak on the surface they were not to be underestimated. They were the third most powerful after him and his sister.
He was sure they knew about the wolf’s attack on the pack but they didn’t do anything.
Well, it wasn’t their fault anyway. They were just like secret soldiers of the pack who would show up whenever the pack was in deep crisis and the alpha couldn’t handle it all by himself.
Jefferson could vaguely remember the last time he saw them in action was the night his parents were killed by the hunters.
That night after being poisoned by the werewolves the hunters attacked the pack leaving them defenceless.
At that time though his sister joined in the fight she was also poisoned so she wasn’t much of a use.
He remembered he couldn’t join the fight as his parents didn’t allow him because he was too small.
When it looked like the situation was not in their favour his father sent him to ask for the elder’s help which he went to.
But before he could come back with them his parents were already dead. Though the elders managed to turn around the situation and kill the hunters, what happened had already happened.
Jefferson sighed and pushed the thoughts to the back of his mind to look at the table the elders were sitting around on.
There was an empty chair just right in front of the table facing the elders.
“Have your seat.” One of the elders who was rather chubby looking said.
Jefferson sighed and went to sit on the chair.
“I heard you were looking for me,” Jefferson asked in the most polite tone he could muster.
“Indeed we were looking for you concerning some matters of the pack and also a matter concerning you.” One of the elders said. He was an elder with a bald head and a long face.
“Which one should we start with? The matter concerning the pack or the one cornering you.” A female voice spoke. She was one of the elders and was known well in the pack as the undying witch as she had lived for a pretty long time. She was one of the oldest elders and also the only female among the elders.
“Hmmm!” Jefferson rubbed his chin as he pondered on it.
“Let’s start with the one concerning the pack.”
He could fairly guess what they wanted to say about his matter so it didn’t mean much to him.
“Very well then.” The elder with the long face said.
“We heard that the pack was attacked by the wolves. What do you plan on doing?” One of the elders asked. He was an elder with a bald head. His head could be said to be shiny and was also a source of light in the dark room.
“Judging with the past feud we had with the wolves.” The chubby-looking elder added.
“I’m planning to go to an all-out war with the wolves,” Jefferson replied, rubbing his chin while tapping his feet slightly on the floor.
Hearing his reply the elders frowned slightly. Though they had expected this reply from him they didn’t expect him to say an all-out war.
All they were expecting him to say was just that he was going to have his revenge.
“Is there anything wrong with my decision?” Jefferson frowned upon noticing the heavy atmosphere and immediately he replied.
The elders shook their heads in confirmation.
“Then what do you think I should do, wise one?” Jefferson smirked.
He was sure they would have no good reason for him not to go to war with the wolves.
They had already tested his patience to the limits and this was the time to face his wrath. There was no forgiveness this time around.
Hearing Jefferson’s words the elders looked at themselves and didn’t say anything. They knew they didn’t have any good reason to make Jefferson not start the war.
He was stronger than all of them combined. They knew only he could finish off the wolf pack but they guessed he must have thought about it and decided to wage war on them instead.
Jefferson looked at the confused faces of the elders and a smirk appeared on his face.
“Is that all concerning the pack?” Jefferson sighed.
“Yeah, that’s all we have to say.” An elder with an oval face and long nose replied.
Jefferson sighed hearing the reply. He wondered if this was the real reason they had summoned him.
He was sure the reason would lie in the second thing they wanted to talk to him about.
“So can we proceed to the next thing?” He asked with a wry smile when he saw that none of the elders was saying anything.
Immediately the elders came back to their senses and glanced at Jefferson.
“About the matter concerning you.” The female amongst the elders said her voice cracking.
“We heard you found your mate.” She continued.
“And that she’s a human.” The bald elder added.
“Also we heard you made her the Luna of the pack.” The long-nosed elder continued.
“Do you even know the importance of that position?” The elder with a long face frowned.
“Not that we are against you mating with a human. But there’s something you’re supposed to know: the position of a Luna is not supposed to be given to a weakling. She’s supposed to be fit and strong.” The elder who hadn’t said anything all this while suddenly said.
Hearing their words Jefferson didn’t know whether to laugh or frown. These words felt funny to him.
“Yeah, you are all right. But could you please give me some other reasons why I shouldn’t make my mate the Luna of the pack?” He frowned.
Immediately a sigh spread among them. He didn’t know why they were signing but we’ll it was none of his concern.
“The positive of the Luna traditionally is held by the mate of the Alpha of that pack. But your case is different. Your mate is a human and is weak; there’s no way she can be the Luna of the pack.” The elder with a long nose said as he explained to Jefferson.
Hearing the reply a cold smile left Jefferson’s lips. “I’m sorry but I don’t think I’ll take the position from her.”
“She’s my mate and I know all the pack members would respect her,” Jefferson smiled standing up from his seat.
He knew they didn’t have anything to tell him again so he just smiled and stood up.
Seeing Jefferson’s actions the elders knew they couldn’t convince him to take away the position of Luna from his mate. Well, it wasn’t that they weren’t okay with it but it was some of the pack’s members that had come to plead to them to help change Jefferson’s mind but they were unable to do so.
“When are you bringing your mate to us?” The elder who didn’t speak much suddenly said as Jefferson went to the door.
Jefferson, who was at the door, froze and turned back in surprise to look at the elders.
He had thought that the elders were not happy with his mate and that they wouldn’t ask to see her so he didn’t bring up the topic. But it seemed like he was wrong.
It seemed like they were also supportive of his decision and would only advise him to change his decision when it wasn’t good or someone pleaded with them to do so.
So this time Jefferson was sure that someone in the pack had told the elders to talk to him about the position he gave to his mate. But well he wasn’t worried about it.
“I thought you were angry and didn’t want to see my mate,” Jefferson smirked as she probed the elder who asked.
A deep sigh resonated from the elders and Jefferson knew his guess was correct.
Well, how could he be bothered about such a thing? “I’ll bring her to come to visit the elders once it’s time.” He smiled and opened the door, going out of the room and closing the door behind him.
Inside the room, the elders looked at themselves and sighed.
“Do you think he’s going to bring her?” The blad elder said to the long-nosed elder.
“It depends on what his moods are like. I believe he’s angry for not helping his mate when she was about to be captured by the wolf’s pack.” The chubby-looking elder replied and the others shook their heads in agreement.
“Let’s just see how this turns out.” The female elder sighed as she looked at the door deep in thought.
They all seemed to be reminiscing on something.
Outside Jefferson sighed and glanced at the sky looking at the sun which was already about to set.
It was already evening. He wondered how many hours he had spent with the elders discussing the matter.
The smell of the place which gave off an old vibe made him breathe in a lot of air before sighing.
He was tired today and wanted to have nothing but a good night’s rest.
Tomorrow was going to be a hell lot of a day as he was going to start the preparation for war.
Suddenly he thought of DeLorna who he left in his room and wondered if she was still sleeping. She was his mate and he loved her with all his heart. He had secretly sworn never to do something that would make her cry.
Thinking of this he disappeared from the spot he was standing rushing to his room where his mate was. He hoped she was still sleeping so he could stare at her beautiful face.
