A feast was held at the palace in honour of Lucian and all the Lycans came. They ate, drank and danced. Everyone was there except for Alexia. She was in the room packing her luggage. She had to go back to the werewolf territories, it was time to hand the packs over to Kiara.
Alexia wanted to come back to the lycan clan permanently and live with her mate. Fate had given her other chances but this one was one chance she would not gamble with or let go of. It was everything. Lucian felt real and different, she could see a future with the man.
She would sacrifice her rulership and come back and let the man mark her, she would turn into a lycan but she was ready to sacrifice everything even Hertha. She would come back and rule with the man and together, they will guard their clan jealously.
The feast was over and Lucian came into the room, he was not drunk and Alexia was glad. He walked over to her on the bed and kissed her gently on her forehead. He walked into the bathroom to freshen up and when he came out, Alexia was no longer on the bed, she was sitting on the chair at the corner of the room.
She called him over to where she sat and he came and sat down in the chair opposite hers. They sat there with no words spoken and they just stared into each other’s eyes. For a long time.
“I will be leaving for my territory soon.” She spoke up.
He sighed deeply.
“I understand.” He replied.
“I will be back so we can complete the mating bond.” She said.
His face brightened up. His eyes were filled with joy and shock and also disbelief.
“You will be a lycan.” He reminded her.
“I know.” She assured him.
“What will happen to your territory?” He asked.
She laughed.
“I have a daughter.”
Lucian remembered the girl for the first time in forever. He had last seen her when she was just a girl. A silver-eyed girl, just like her mother. He would not recognize her now.
“She’s grown enough to take over the packs?” He asked.
“She is.” She replied.
Lucian wasn’t surprised, Lycans grew so fast but the werewolves grew faster.
“I would not recognize her anymore.” He confessed.
“You would. She looks just like me.” She told him.
She remembered the Kiara she saw the last time she was at the pack and a tear dropped on her face. She was sad and angry. She was sad that she did not play her motherly role in her daughter’s life. She had abandoned the girl and she did not watch her grow and become a strong independent woman. Lucian stood up from his chair and walked over to where she sat and knelt before her. He wiped a tear off her face.
“You miss her.” He asked.
She nodded and he pulled her in for a hug. They hugged for a long time and when they disengaged, he carried her bridal style to the bed and laid her gently on it, he tucked her in the sheets and went to the other side of the bed and laid down too. He wrapped his big arms around her like a protective barrier and indeed she found a safe haven in him. They slept like that the whole night. Cuddling.
The next day, Alexia woke up early enough and started her journey back to the werewolf’s territory. She arrived after some days and she was warmly welcomed. She inspected the packs and Vincent had done a very good job. She was greatly Impressed. She summoned the man and commended him for a job Weldon.
Five days after she came back, she sent Vincent to the gammas’ house to bring back Kiara. Vincent went and Alexia prepared well for Kiara’s arrival. She went outside the house and waited for Kiara.
Kiara and Vincent arrived by evening and Alexia was the first person they saw, she was standing at the entrance. Immediately she saw Kiara, she walked to her and pulled her in for a hug. The girl did not move a muscle, and neither did she hug Alexia back.
“Welcome child,” Alexia said.
She was on the verge of tears, she cupped the girl’s beautiful face in her hands. Kiara looked just exactly like Alexia. Immediately Alexia released the girl’s face, and she bowed.
“Your Majesty.” She greeted Alexia.
“I have always told you, Kiara, to call me a mother,” Alexia spoke.
The girl didn’t say anything. She was like a statue. Alexia welcomed her home and took her to the dining table and they sat down together and ate alone, just the two of them. Dinner was silent and immediately it was over, Alexia spoke.
“Go to your room and freshen up and wait for me. We need to talk.” Alexia explained.
Kiara bowed and she left. Alexia did not stop her from bowing anymore, she would not again. She just resolved to make do with what the girl addressed her as, at least, the girl wasn’t being rude or disrespectful.
*** KIARA’S POV ***
She was puzzled when Vincent came to take her back home. She first thought that her mother was dead but when she asked Vincent, he said she was well and doing fine and she was back. She asked the man if he knew why she was coming back, but the man had no idea whatsoever.
Indeed, her mother was there at the door when they arrived and she pulled her in for a hug at once. She didn’t want to hug the woman. And she did not. The woman ushered her to the dining table for dinner and she ate to her full. The woman told her to go and freshen up and wait for her, she didn’t want to wait for her. She wanted to sleep on a soft bed for once.
