Alexia’s brows knotted. Surely, the man wasn’t going to reject her request because she was a woman, was he?
“Why?”
“We destroyed the weapons meant to kill the Lycans when the peace treaty was signed. We wanted peace wholeheartedly.” The vampire king explained.
Alexia didn’t speak again. She knew he was lying and it infuriated her. She knew that the vampires underestimate their women but she didn’t think they underestimated other races too.
“You are lying Charles.” Her voice rose.
The vampire king laughed heartily. It sounded like a shriek and it infuriated Alexia.
“I will buy the weapon. I will exchange it for a human.” Alexia spoke again. Calmly.
He laughed harder.
“I can go to the human realm right now and drag one with me down here. I don’t need you to believe me. There is no weapon, period.” The vampire king spoke. Finality in his voice.
He walked past Alexia and left the room. She stood in the large room all alone, angry.
She stood there for a while, she did not know what to do. But she had other cards to play and she would play them. She left the ballroom and went back to her room.
When the vampire king arrived in his own room, his wife was there, she lay on the bed waiting for her husband. He got inside and the woman sat up.
“Welcome.” She said.
“Why are you not asleep yet, Hilda?”
“What did she want?”
The king laughed.
“Is someone jealous?”
“Oh please.”
The queen rolled her eyes.
“She wants to kill her husband’s brother.”
The Queen’s eyes widened with shock and she gasped. She could not believe what he was telling her.
“Tell me you are joking” Her voice was that of surprise. He further explained to her his conversation with Alexia.
“What did you say?” She asked her husband.
“I told her the weapons were destroyed. She insisted I was lying but I walked out on her.”
“She is a dangerous woman. What does she mean, domineering her husband like that? He should be the one asking for weapons.”
The king didn’t want to talk any further on the topic and went to bed.
The next day, early in the morning, Alexia left the vampire kingdom. She left so early, she did not say her goodbyes to the king. She took off to her next destination. The witches’ territory. If the vampire king would not help her then, magic would. She walked for several days to the witches’ territory.
When she finally arrived, the environment wasn’t as strange to her as it was the first time she arrived with Lucian and there was no frowning girl on her path. She walked through the houses and all the way to the mansion behind them. She got to the mansion and she knocked on the large door, a servant opened the door and ushered Alexia in. The servant left Alexia and ran up the long stairs. She came back moments later with the young girl who blocked Alexia’s path the first day she came. When the girl saw Alexia, she smiled brightly and Alexia could see her perfect dentition. Alexia smiled back at the girl.
“Alexia, you came back.” The girl said.
She came to where Alexia stood and they hugged each other.
“Yes, I did,” Alexia said when they disengaged from the hug.
“Mother will be happy to see you again.” They sounded excited.
The girl reminded Alexia of Kiara. She was of Kiara’s height. Alexia felt bad hearing the girl call Amanda’s mother, but Kiara refused to call her mother. She quickly gathered her emotions.
“What is your name?” Alexia suddenly asked.
“Claire.” The girl responded and Alexia nodded.
“Claire,” Alexia repeated the name.
“Where is your mother?” Alexia asked again.
“She is not in the kingdom. She went to visit the queen of the fairies. They are very good friends.”
The fairies. Alexia suddenly remembered that Kai was at the fairies all this while. But she threw the idea out of her head. There was no way the fairies will help her. The girl took Alexia and her omegas and showed them to their various rooms. Alexia went in to freshen up and when she came down for dinner, she asked Claire when he mother will be back, the girl told Alexia the next day. Alexia had no choice but to wait for Amanda. She went into her room and slept off.
The next day, Amanda returned. She was very happy to see Alexia and her eyes sparkled when she spoke to Alexia. Alexia stayed back for two more days and on the third day, she told Amanda her request over dinner. The two of them sat at the long table, eating. Claire wasn’t there, she had eaten an early dinner and she was guarding the territory. They were still eating when Alexia spoke up.
“He killed his father as you said,” Alexia spoke and smiled at Amanda. She smiled back.
“I’m glad,” Amanda spoke and returned to her food.
Alexia hesitated.
“He is supposed to be king but his older illegitimate brother came back and took it from him.”
Amanda stopped eating and stared at Alexia.
“I need to help my husband. I need help.”
Alexia bowed her head and a tear fell out. Amanda reached out and touched Alexia’s hand, a gesture of comfort.
“How can I be of help Alexia?” Amanda’s voice was comforting.
Alexia looked up at the witch queen. Her silver eyes glittered with tears in them.
“I need a portion, I need to kill him.”
The witch queen took her hand away from Alexia’s slowly. She was not an evil Queen. Alexia grabbed her hands and more tears streamed down her face.
“Please help me” Her voice sounded pleading.
Amanda rose from her seat and disengaged her hands from Alexia’s grip, she looked at Alexia.
“Unfortunately, I won’t be able to help you, Alexia.” The witch queen spoke and left.
Alexia sat there alone and was disappointed, she thought the woman will be able to help her but she was disappointed. She would have to take her plan C.
The Fairies.
