The man finished up leaving both Lucian and Alexia in shock. The duo could not believe the betrayal. Lucian stood up slowly and silently. Alexia noticed his movement and stood up too, holding Lucian’s hands, both of them walked out of the room silently.
The clan was summoned and all of the Lycans gathered at the base of the palace. The elders stood at the balcony and announced the next ruler of the lycan clan, Kai. The lycan king. There were noises and murmuring but soon, the Lycans bowed and gave respect to their king.
When Lucian got into his room, he laid on his bed face up and covered his face with his palms. He was cast, he felt betrayed by his father and by the clan. Alexia joined him on the bed and she sat, looking at him. She felt pity and rage, Lucian looked too helpless. She held his hand into hers and spoke.
“You did so well. You did what I said.”
“My mother will be disappointed where ever she is.”
He spoke. His voice was shaky and he had tears running from his eyes. He was crying. Alexia drew closer to him and wiped a tear from his face.
“Shhhhh. Kings don’t cry, Lucian.”
“I am no king Alexia, did you not hear what they said?”
“As long as I live, you are king, you will be king and king you shall be forever.”
“What should we do?”
“Leave things to me. Relax and let me play my cards.”
She smiled evilly and gave Lucian a quick kiss. He inhaled her scent into his lungs and he felt peaceful and safe. She was his fortress. She broke the kiss and started unbuttoning his shirt, she did and he pulled it off. He laid back on the bed and slept off. When he slept, Alexia left.
She walked through the clan, observing the environment as she went by. They were a normal clan, with some houses bigger than others, the stalls were open and different things sold. The place looked dark and scary, but the houses had lights in them. She stopped walking, she didn’t know where she was going. She stopped a woman and asked for directions and the woman directed her to Marcus’s house, she thanked the woman and continued walking.
She was going to Marcus’s house. Lucian introduced her to Marcus and Zendaya at the feast that Kai ruined. He told her Marcus was his best friend and Zendaya, his wife. She looked at the woman and she didn’t need a seer to tell her that the girl was a vampire. Her pale skin gave her away right away. Alexia walked to the house she was directed to and knocked on the door. A servant opened the door for her and she went in. Marcus was there, sitting on a couch in the living room. He rose to welcome Alexia when she came in, they shook hands and exchanged pleasantries. Marcus showed her a couch and she sat.
“Lady Alexia, what brings you here?”
Marcus asked Alexia heartily but the woman didn’t smile again, she looked aggressive and fierce.
“You know your friend was replaced with an illegitimate child as ruler.”
“I know.”
“You didn’t go to see him? To comfort him?”
“I wanted to give him space and I know you are there, he would not be needing me anymore.”
“Very well then, and where is your wife if I may ask?”
“She is up. She has been sleeping the whole day.”
“Wake her, tell her I want to have a word with her.”
“Excuse me?”
Marcus’s brows knotted and Alexia frowned. The nerve of the lycan to question her.
“Wake her.”
Alexia repeated calmly and Marcus rose and went upstairs. He came back sometime later with Zendaya. A look at her and one would know she is tired, her hair roughly made and her skin was paler than the last time Alexia saw her. Zendaya looked like a mess. They alighted the stairs and Marcus aided Zendaya to sit on the couch he was sitting on. He went to sit on another couch.
“You look extremely tired Zendaya.”
Alexia spoke up when they all sat down. Zendaya nodded. Alexia turned to Marcus.
“Leave us. We want to talk, woman to woman.”
Alexia smiled. Marcus looked at Zendaya and she nodded towards him and he stood up and went downstairs.
“Tell me something Zendaya, do you know of your father’s weapons? I mean, the ones used on a lycan.”
Alexia spoke up when she was sure that Marcus had gone far enough to not hear her. Zendaya became alert at the question and frowned. She wondered what a werewolf wanted a weapon for, her father had many weapons. The Lycans were their enemies and the vampires had a lot of weapons that could kill them in a flash. But she would not tell the werewolf that, the woman’s silver eyes didn’t just sit well. They looked evil.
“No. I am my father’s last child and I have two elder brothers, I know nothing of weapons and war. I have been groomed all my life for marriage. I know nothing.”
Zendaya said weakly and She dropped her head back on the chair. Alexia frowned. She knew the vampire was lying, but of course, she would not force her to speak. Alexia stood up and smiled at Zendaya.
“Very well then, I shall have my leave now. My regards to Marcus.”
Alexia said and left the house. Marcus came down immediately after he heard the door closing. Zendaya was still sitting on the couch and he didn’t see Alexia. He walked over to Zendaya and knelt in front of her and rubbed her cheeks gently.
“What did she want?”
He asked calmly. Zendaya made to stand up and Marcus helped her. She stood on her feet and held onto Marcus for support. She was too weak.
“She’s dangerous.”
Zendaya said while they were ascending the stairs to their room.
Alexia got to the palace and met Lucian’s absence. She asked for him and a servant told her Lucian had gone out not so long ago. He went to Raphael’s house. She went into their room and freshened up. She came out wearing another black flowing dress. She started to pack. She will be travelling the next day.
