When he got there, he told the man about what transpired between him and Zendaya when he came back. He also told him about his confession to his mother regarding his mate and also about the fact that Zendaya reported him to his father. It was the last thing he wanted, someone to keep taking his issues to his father. The friends spoke at length and Lucian returned to the palace at night.
He ate his dinner alone. He had arrived late and everyone had eaten. He went to bed when he was done with his food and after pulling on the clothes he wore and changing into a short, he lay on the bed and was about to go to sleep when his mother came in again. He felt her presence and when she sat down on his bed, he rose and sat up too.
She just sat still and looked into his eyes for a long time. Lucian was looking into hers too. Then she finally spoke
“Just make sure she doesn’t have a mate. I can accept a child but I don’t want you entangling yourself in a mess with a man. You are a prince. No one’s second option.”
His mother’s words sank deep into him and he was going to act on them. He was relieved that his mother had no issue with the child and would accept her. He hugged his mother.
“Thank you, mother.” He whispered into her ears and she stroked his back gently.
She rose after they disengaged from the hug and turned to leave but she stopped at the door after she told him to get some sleep, she opened the door and left.
ELIZA’S POV
She could notice from his behaviour after he came back that he had a mate. Lycans don’t stay far from their mates. They guard their mates jealously and if their mates were to go far away from them, their Lycan forms would take control and go berserk and only the mate would be able to calm the Lycan down if it got to that point. She could see that Lucian was getting aggressive. He looked mean and carried a dark aura but he wasn’t a bad person and his sudden aggressiveness could only mean he was away from his mate. She also noticed how much he was fighting his Lycan form from taking over and she knew that he had found his mate and she was probably far.
When she coaxed her son into telling her who his mate was, he told her and she was disappointed. She knew Alexia. She knew that the Alpha female werewolf was the ruler of the four werewolf packs, the only woman who ruled a specie. Eliza could only imagine how the woman did it. She knew also that the woman had a daughter but she didn’t know if the woman had a mate or not.
She questioned the moon goddess inwardly for giving her son such a mate. She knew that the woman would try to control her son. Such women were domineering and she didn’t want that for her child. No, she didn’t. But she had no choice, the woman was her son’s mate and the only thing she would do was to be supportive.
She could see the excitement in Lucian’s eyes when she told him she was okay with him and Alexia. She could see that Alexia was really Lucian’s mate. But if it were left for her, she would tear them apart. But she couldn’t do that to her son. It would mean an everlasting life of torture for Lucian.
______________________
Lucian woke up early the next morning and left the clan for the werewolves’ territory. He had slept and thought about what his mother had said and she was right. He was the Lycan prince and wasn’t anyone’s second option. He was going to ask Alexia if she had a mate, not that any of her answers would change the fact that she was his mate but it would make things easier.
He arrived in the southern woods and he could perceive her from where he was. He arrived in the territory and walked over to her house. Her scent was so strong at that point. He arrived at her house and he was told that she was out on an important assignment but she’ll be back in the evening. He was shown to a room where he freshened up and slept.
He woke up at night and went down for dinner after throwing on some of the casual clothes he could find. And she was already there, looking as beautiful as always. She was wearing a black cotton gown with her black hair tied behind her in a ponytail and it gave her an air of elegance and style. She didn’t look surprised when she saw him this time. It was anger. And the moment he sat down, she threw the question at him.
“What are you doing here again?” She spoke through clenched teeth. Her silver eyes fixed wholly on him. He laid back on the chair, with his dark eyes fixed on her silver ones lazily and he crossed his arms.
“Now Alexia, that is no way to welcome your hero.” His deep voice cracked. She squinted her eyes at him for a while and she returned to her food but he remained in that position, looking at her for a while, savouring her beauty.
After dinner was over, Alexia rose to leave, it had been a long day and she was tired. She had not yet gotten to the door when he spoke up.
“Do you have a mate?” He half shouted it and his voice echoed in the dining hall and beyond. She stopped in her tracks. She turned around and looked at him.
“Not your business.” That was all she said before she left the dining room in anger. She got to her room and banged the door behind her. She hurriedly freshened up and lay on her bed and went to sleep.
