Eyes flutter open to the sudden coldness that consumes my body, limbs that were tired and worn out after the long journey now has gained back their strength after a good rest. Swallowing to soothe my thirsty dry throat a low moan leaves my lips whilst stretching my extremity.
The smell of burnt wood clouds the room under its ashy and stale cloak showing me the fire had died long before. The tent is silent however the chatter of wolves outside along with their loud and brutal grunts of training peeks in.
My heart picks up the pace when understanding of the current situation slowly begins to slither its way into my mind, I had slept here. Next to Deimos. Last night’s heated events take their turn to come into light whilst my finger touches my lower lip. The presence of his lips upon mine battles with every other thought and emotion that wishes to surge.
A lingering feeling I have within me, a feeling that wishes to stay and make its home. A feeling that devourers me. The other side of the bed is empty, the sheets spread about and crumpled. Placing my palm over it sliding down the material feeling the coldness of it, he had left hours ago.
Knowing I must go inquire about his wellness I take a deep shaky breath, nervousness flooding my system to what he shall say to me. Sitting up tying my hair I prepare to place my feet upon the ground only for my heart to halt whilst a loud intake of breath is drawn from my side.
Deimos’s wolf sits patiently by the bed his head placed over the softness, red eyes looking up at me from beneath his lashes resembling the aura of a pup analyzing my movements. He was silent as a ghost hiding, waiting patiently for me to awaken. As soon as our eyes meet his tail begins to wag body relaxed, ears to the side, tongue out he greets me.
Leaving the bed, kneeling upon the floor palms reach out to hold the sides of his face I bring him closer to me. Placing my forehead upon his I nudge him gently. I gift him with slow licks to his cheek and neck, my greeting to him. My wolf indulges in the feeling of having her male nearby, she rolls upon the floor belly up head tilted to the side tail wagging underneath. They love each other. Truly.
If only life were this easy for me and Deimos, things would be quite different for us. An easy path blessed by the moon. But that is not the case despite how hard we fight for the other.
His wolf turns around to the other side of the tent heavy paws padding softly upon the floor. He opens his jaw to pick up something holding it tightly in his mouth he trots back to where I kneel. As soon as he is near he drops it peering up back at me.
He has hunted a wild hare for us to eat fulfilling his duty. An Alpha always provides. The neck of the hare is crushed a sign of a swift and easy kill. Blood paints his mouth as his tongue licks it clean. Bending down he captures the hare in his mouth bones crushed with ease twisting half of the flesh he swallows filling his belly.
He has taken his share first leaving me the rest, seeing that I have made no move towards the meat he nudges it with his nose towards me. Claws extending I tear into the tender meat digging into its insides. It has not been skinned yet but brought to me fresh.
My hands and mouth are coated with its blood as I chew on the raw meat fangs cutting it down making it easier to swallow. As I eat, he watches on sitting comfortably on his hind legs. There is no human-like manners but a wildness in the way that I eat.
Once I have finished I lick my hands clean imitating that of a wolf as he walks forward to lick any remains that are left around my mouth. My belly full, I am warm and fed. I am content. I offer him a smile with teeth to show him my satisfaction.
He circles me slowly sniffing me now and then taking in my scent, wet nose nudging my cheek warm breath soothing my flesh. I let him do whatever he wishes whilst I clean myself further. Once he has finished his examination of me, he gives back control to who seeks it. Red eyes begin to manifest into deep rich emeralds whilst his spine rises and bends.
Fur sinking in, paws changing into hands birthing Deimos who stands up bare in front of me. I swallow loudly peering up at him, he who gazes down at me with his striking eyes. Bending down hands clutching my hips he picks me up in one harsh pull.
I fall into him with a gasp chest against chest, the only difference was mine was heaving and running wild with its beats. He stares into my soul as I stare into his. I am trying to see if he remembers anything.
He does not speak a word merely leaning towards me hot tongue seeping out his lips to lick the side of my mouth, so close one may call it a kiss. It is a slow lick one where our eyes are not taken away from the other. His eyes are drowning in flames beneath. “He did not clean you properly.” Deimos murmurs speaking of his wolf.
His eyes scan my face to check if there are any further remains whilst I pray silently for it to exist. He offers a curt nod and lets go of me, a sudden extraction of his warmth leaves me aching. Yearning for it to return.
I do not dare say a word teeth sinking into my lower lip thoughts of last night consuming me, a sudden uneasiness of his memory. When he does not speak of last night, disappointment floods me. Do I want him to remember?
My eyes snap to his nakedness to check on the deep wounds that scarred his flesh. They had healed well, but I was right. He has more scars to add to his collection. But they seem dry, perhaps some ointment would do.
“Why did you come here?” His voice is deep but low. A question asked with no hesitation. Straight to the point no running around.
“Because you broke your promise.” I reply turning away from his searching eyes striding to the small table washing my hands in a bowl filled with water now turned cold. Perhaps it merely looks as though I am washing up to be clean but I am running. I am putting space between us to calm the storm brewing within me.
Praying he does not notice my trembling flesh I rub my hands harsher, anger at myself swimming within me. “Why did you come here, mate?” He questions again a rise in the intensity of his voice. His voice somehow feels a little closer to me.
“I just told you, Deimos. You broke your promise, you hadn’t returned in twelve days. I had to come and check if everything was all right.” I mutter whilst grabbing a cloth to dry my wet hands.
“I shall ask you one last time. Why did you come here?” He whispers in my right ear hot breath blowing onto the shell of my ear. He is causing a catastrophe and he is unaware of it.
I turn swiftly eyes widening noticing his closeness to me, his hands move forward to hold onto the table to bound me in the space between leaving me with no chance of escape whilst my palms moves backwards to hold onto the wood for support. He cages me as I lean further away peering up at him.
“What do you want me to say?” I ask sinking deep into his eyes.
He merely tilts his head watching me with those seductive spell bounding emeralds. “The truth. Your truth.”
“I did tell you just now.”
“No, you did not. You forgot to mention the important bits. The parts where you say that you were worried for me. Where you say that you were afraid for me, that you wished to see me. This truth.” He speaks with confidence. He knows everything yet he wants the words to leave my mouth. He taunts me, he sways me.
Nudging himself closer to me he pushes a stray strand of hair to a secured place behind my ear, eyes coming back to meet mine. Leaning toward my ear, “Say it.” He urges whispered words ending with a pleading moan teeth bites into my ear lobe tugging and sucking on it. He is aware of what he is doing to me.
I take a slow low breath shutting my eyes close, nails digging into the wood. My body shivers violently goosebumps make their way about upon my flesh. A wildfire erupts within. One that he is able to create with no effort.
