They Will Learn – Part I

Book:DEIMOS (Alpha of Alphas) Published:2024-6-2

I flinch as my body is thrown about at the back seat of the car in response to the bumpy road. We are headed to Alpha Giovanni’s pack and it has been quite the ride. The pebble roads are small and are not smooth making it a headache for a drive.
Deimos sighs trying to focus on the documents as every bump distracts him. I feel the sudden need to throw up with all these bumps along the way.
“How much longer?” I ask him as I try to scan my papers as well. It contains all the information as I requested of the females, I would train.
“Quanto siamo vicini?” Deimos speaks out, his eyes still scanning the scattered words on paper.
(How close are we?”)
“Altri cinque o dieci minuti, Alpha.” The driver replies his eyes giving Deimos a quick glimpse from the rearview mirror.
“Five to ten minutes,” Deimos says to me.
I fold the papers in hand and quickly place them into the folders. I have finished analyzing it already. I just need to have a physical confrontation with the females for me to understand them deeper.
I struggle for another ten minutes when our car pulls up to huge brown gates. The driver gets out of the car and scans his identification card along with an eye scan.
“Very secured aren’t they?” I ask Deimos.
“It was my idea. I told Giovanni to do so as an extra precaution.” Deimos comments to my question and I nod in response.
We drive further into the pack lands until I see the view of a few males and females waiting outside by the packhouse. As the driver parks the car by the fountain I look at Deimos.
“Ready?” I ask him as he chuckles.
“Shouldn’t I be the one to ask you that, mate?” He smiles as I shake my head playfully. My attention is taken as the driver opens my door. I thank him and get out slowly and stand as Deimos walks around to my side.
My ears perk up to the sound of clouded whispers and chatters. Perhaps the negative prejudices they have of a female Alpha pressed tightly into the depths of their minds. My eyes are stuck on the females present and I don’t flinch to the utter disrespect these females show me nor do I pay attention to it.
The males are quiet. Eyes never leaving Deimos and I analyzing every inch of us, trying to find faults. Deimos stands tall as ever, no matter what he has the authority. The higher power. This is just one of the many packs he needs to care for. This is his duty.
The chatter comes to a complete stop as the females make way for their Alpha. I look at the male from the tips of his hair to his black shoes. His black messy hair falls in strands covering his forehead. His eyes are calm and composed not showing an inch of emotion. He strides with confidence to us not intimidated by the presence of higher power.
Now standing in front of us Alpha Giovanni bows deeply. “I apologize for not arriving earlier to welcome you. There was something I needed to deal with.” He says, his voice deep for a young male.
“It’s not a problem we only got here no-” I try to ease the sparkling tension as Deimos cuts me off.
“The next time we arrive, you will be here despite any circumstances. That is what an Alpha does. Do you understand me?” Deimos asks looking deep into Alpha Giovanni’s eyes.
The young clenches his jaw as he replies, “Yes Alpha Deimos.”
“You know why we are here yes? I will be training you. Ragon will be training your males and Lumina and Elriam will be training your females.” Deimos speaks, his eyes never once leaving Alpha Giovanni’s. The male stands up straighter and nods.
“Yes of course. I sincerely thank you for coming all the way to help us. It is an honour.” Alpha Giovanni replies.
“It is our pleasure, Alpha Giovanni,” I say smiling.
“Gio. Call him Gio.” Deimos says looking down at the young male as his eyes widen and cheeks turn a slight shade of red.
The silence is broken by the cry of a small pup. We all turn towards the entrance as a female pup comes barreling towards Giovanni. She hugs his leg tightly with swollen eyes and puffed cheeks.
“Che cosa ho detto, Gianna? I told you to wait inside yes?” Giovanni reprimands her, his tone stern but equally soft.
(What did I say, Gianna?”)
“G-Gio always leaves Gianna alone.” She clutches his leg tighter weeping softly as she talks about them.
“Who is this?” Deimos asks staring at the young pup as she flinches to the sound of his voice and hides behind Giovanni coming out for a peep at us.
Giovanni sighs as he replies, “This is my sister. Gianna.”
Deimos’s eyes widen slightly. “When? Why was I not aware?” He asks.
Giovanni’s nose flares in anger as he clenches his jaw. “You haven’t come to visit us in years. You stopped all contact. You didn’t even come to see the funeral of Mamma e Papà. You left us… left me alone! And you dare ask me-” He stops as tears well in his eyes. Clenching his fists tightly he clears his throat looking away.
“Gio?… Gio?” Gianna slowly pushes him indirectly asking if he is okay.
Taking a deep breath he looks straight back into Deimos’s eyes erasing any trail of emotion he possessed. “I apologize. Please come inside so we can start planning… Alpha Deimos.” He stresses the word Alpha and Deimos flinches.
Picking up Gianna in his arms Giovanni walks forward as his pack members whimper heads bowed, upset that their Alpha is struggling. Deimos watches the young male and he sighs deeply running his hand through his hair frustrated.
“Talk to me,” I tell him holding onto his hand softly.
“I guess it is my fault. I was supposed to be there for him and I failed at that.” He says looking down at me.
“Who is he to you?” I ask him as we walk toward the packhouse.
