“Alpha are you even listening?” Cobi asked in a respectful tone.
I gazed at him with a low sigh then stretched myself in my seat.
“Why exactly am I here?” I asked lazily.
I really wanted to get the hell out of my office as soon as possible. What Ace and I wanted was Emily. All we could think about was holding her in our arms and spending a lot of time with her. Never was there a day I rested nor got lazy to train or fail to attend to my packs matters. But now everything felt different. I didn’t want to train nor work. I also found myself appreciating Cobi more than before.
He was going to be handling everything without fail because my time was going to be dedicated to my mate.
“Your brother was spotted by me further away from our packs border. I took it upon myself to patrol beyond our usual places and I’m glad that I did. I saw him with a she-wolf that seemed to be an alpha as well.” He answered sparking my interest.
“A female alpha you say… Did you see her in human form?” I asked with a frown.
“No. I didn’t.” He answered with a slight bow.
I stood up then brushed my hand through my hair.
The only female alpha there was in my past pack besides me and Jason was my little sister Rhoyda.
But then why was she with him?. Was she helping him search for Emily?.
“Alpha, should we alert our warriors to be vigilant with their surroundings, or should we just keep it between us?” He asked.
“Let’s keep it between us for now. And I’m pretty sure Jason can’t easily track us down, for years his been away. He doesn’t know how the woods or forest work. For now, we have an upper hand. All you have to do is be vigilant, he might not be a good tracker but that doesn’t mean his beta isn’t. I have heard a lot about the beta who managed to raise the pack that had once fallen with his bare hands. That itself proves how hard-working and intelligent he is.” I answered.
Ken was always hard working and very serious. I also remembered how much of a good tracker he was. If someone was to find us, it was definitely going to be him.
I tensed when a cold shiver went around my body.
Ace too seemed to be up on his feet and shifting.
“I understand alpha. I’ll be careful and keep an eye on our surroundings.” Cobi answered then cleared his throat when a minute went by without my response.
“Alpha, are you okay?” He asked.
I took in a deep breath then released it.
“Yes, I think everything is settled. What is left you can handle it on your own right?, so don’t call me out when I’m with my mate, unless it’s urgent and …..”
I cut my sentence short when I felt a wave of anger and fear wash all over me.
“Alpha,” Cobi called again.
I ignored him then quickly rushed out of my office and followed my mate’s scent outside. The feelings I was experiencing weren’t fully my own but Emily’s. She had my mark and thankfully that made it easy to share out thoughts as well as our feelings because of the formed bond.
“Cole, I think I’m about to be killed.” I heard her voice clearly in my head.
I picked up my pace and ran to where her scent was stronger.
I saw Emily on the ground ahead, she was covering her face with her hands. And Naomi was in front of her with her hand in mid-air aiming to hit her.
Ace partially took over and growled loudly enough to slightly shake the ground.
Naomi turned in fear facing our way as we approached her.
She smiled and was about to speak when we lifted our hand without a second thought and clawed her throat. She cried out in a loud panicked voice and fell down to her knees.
“Let’s finish her off and set her as an example to all the ladies that don’t know their place.” Ace growled furiously as he pulled back allowing me to fully take over.
I faced Naomi who was badly bleeding and struggling to breathe with no remorse or mercy.
The thought of her wanting to hurt my mate was all I could think of, and it made me furious beyond reason. She needed to die.
I lifted my hand in the air and was about to strike again.
“No!” Emily screamed on top of her voice. I immediately stilled my movements.
“Don’t kill her, please.” She begged.
I took in a deep breath and released it to calm myself down and face her properly.
I turned and faced her sadly. Her cheeks were covered in tears.
“Please.” She whispered again.
I went down to my knees and gently wiped off her tears.
“I’m sorry I was late,” I whispered then held her hand to pull her in my arms when she cried out in pain, I instantly froze with widened eyes.
“It hurts.” She whispered in a labored breath.
“Kill them all.” Ace growled loudly than before.
We both wanted anyone who had witnessed Emily being hurt dead.
“Alpha,” Cobi called loudly as he approached us.
“Please, bear with me as I lift you up, okay.” I whispered softly to her.
She had tears in her eyes as she nodded.
“You will be okay,” I said softly as I carefully got her in my arms and lifted her up in bridal style trying not to react without a second thought.
“Call for the pack doctor now, and while you at it. Kill everyone standing here.” I ordered seriously as the she-wolves quickly went down to their knees trembling.
“Alpha we…”
“You even dare to talk back after causing my mate so much pain,” I whispered huskily then glanced their way.
Their gaze were fixed to the ground and low whimpers were coming from them.
“Skin them to death,” I ordered loudly.
“No, please don’t.” Emily pleaded huskily.
I looked her in the eyes with a low sigh.
“They did this to you.” I pointed out.
“Yes, but they don’t deserve to die.” She answered back then bite her lower lip.
I leaned in and kissed her forehead lightly.
“Don’t talk if it hurts, I won’t kill them. You have my word.” I said softly.
“Starve them and put them in the darkroom filled with silver for a week. They aren’t to be given any water at all. As for Naomi, let her heal, then give her twice the punishment the ladies will go through. Also, announce to the men that they should feel free to bed her, she’s no longer under my protection or needed. Also, no one among the ladies should die. I want to keep my word.” I mind-linked Cobi then walked back to the pack house.
