Chapter 87

He’d never admit this but Scott’s betrayal hurt him more than he had expected. He didn’t notice that his fingers were gripping the window frame so badly that it was starting to bleed.
The sudden creak sound of the door snapped him back to reality. The angry expression wiped off immediately, replaced with a smile that one would sense it’s fake miles away.
Emily walked in and the beautiful smile on her face tugged at his heart. His smile slowly turned to a genuine one. The only genuine smile Emily had seen in days.
He walked to her, “I missed you. Why did you take so long?” Emily chuckled and dropped the files on his table, “If someone hadn’t been slacking off on his job, I wouldn’t have had to go to the IT section and request help from my friends.”
Ryan looked guilty when she said this. He reached out and patted her hair. “I’m sorry.” He didn’t even notice Chris was still standing at the door.
“Can I come in?” It was only when Chris spoke that Ryan noticed his presence. Nevertheless, he didn’t look up at him, he just focused on Emily.
“What is it?” His tone sounded cold but the coldness of it didn’t make Chris flinch. Hell… Nothing could affect him ever again not after what Scott has done and promised to do.
“The contract with Jones company has been finalized. The Ceo will be here tomorrow with a few representatives from the company to discuss the final agreement of the contract,” Chris walked forward to hand over a file to Ryan.
The latter collected it without a word and began to browse through the pages. No one noticed the surprised look on Emily’s face.
“Jones!?,” She didn’t realize that she’d said that out loud until Ryan and Chris turned to her. She gave them a nervous smile, “Sorry… I didn’t mean to say that out loud. I was surprised to hear the name.”
Chris nodded even though he didn’t understand. Having no other reason to stay, he gave Ryan a last, lingering look with a heavy sigh and left quietly.
Ryan didn’t look up but his hands tightened around the file. Though he didn’t react even when the door made a creaking sound to indicate that Chris already left.
Emily didn’t notice this cause she was too busy pondering about the name. When she couldn’t take it anymore, she turned to Ryan and touched him.
“Ryan…”
“Yes baby,” he dropped the file and turned to her. “Could you please tell me about this Jones company? I’m just a little bit curious,” She pouted at him and he smiled.
Of course, he can tell her about the company since the CEO happens to be one of his childhood friends. The brat didn’t even bother informing him that he was back in town after disappearing back to the pack a few months ago.
“Jones company is one of the top twenty leading companies in New York. The former CEO and founder of the company named it after his last name which is Jones. But the current Ceo is his son who is also one of my friends. His name is Mason Jones. They deal with telecommunication and commercial services,” Ryan explained and stopped.
Emily smiled and nodded, “That’s enough… Thank you.” Ryan kissed her cheeks instead. “That’s how you should say thank you,” He leaned in.
Emily hurriedly escaped and ran back to her seat. The jerk has had a weird habit of devouring her anytime, anywhere lately that she’s had to plead a lot to save her precious clothes.
But not today. She switched on her computer and pretended to work meanwhile her mind was far away. Mason Jones? As far as she knows, her mother is an orphan and has no relatives while she doesn’t know anything about her dad except his last name.
So who is this Mason guy who is also bearing her last name? Is it just a coincidence since different people are bound to have the same last name?
‘Emily… Maybe you are just overthinking,’ she tried to shrug it off. But… Is she really overthinking?
Lost in thoughts, she didn’t see the smile Ryan gave her as he walked to her. How could he let his little red riding hood just escape like that?
Before she realized it, it was already too late and he wasted no time in bundling her off to the little room! The room that’s been made filthy with their sinful acts. Hehehe!

The next day,
Mason cast a cold glance at his sister with a not-too-pleased look. If she didn’t insist on following him to Ryan’s company and blackmail him by threatening to call dad, he wouldn’t even let her set foot out of that company!
But of course, how could Leilani waste any opportunity to meet Ryan? Pfft… Her Ryan indeed. The cars came to a stop in the spacious garage and Leilani couldn’t help but get excited.
Mason rolled his eyes as one of the bodyguards stepped forward to open the door. ‘Ryan will be blind to fall for you,’ he remarked inwardly as he got out of the car. The door slammed shut and another bodyguard opened the second door for Leilani.
Mason looked away and turned to his employees that came out of the other cars parked in front of him. There were just four of them. A project manager and his secretaries.
He gave them a nod and they returned it. The bodyguards stayed behind as they walked in. Sure enough, as expected, Ryan had already sent people to welcome them.
A male and a familiar female were standing in the reception when they walked in. “Welcome once again Mr Jones,” They only acknowledged Mason and this obviously irked Leilani.
But how are they supposed to know that she isn’t one of his employees but his sister when she’s never been there? Mason hid a smile and coughed slightly, “This is my sister.”
He pointed at Leilani to save her some face and the two unaware employees bowed immediately to admit their mistake.
“We apologize to Miss Jones. Welcome, ma’am.”
