She really wasn’t kidding when she said she doesn’t know anything about meetings otherwise how would she have been able to sleep all the way through the meeting?
Luckily, her hubby is the Ceo so no one dared question the boss lady. Eva could barely hide her irritation. Pearl didn’t even hide the disgust she felt when her eyes constantly drifted to Emily.
How could Ryan allow this unknown woman to sleep during a meeting? “And that’s all,” The last person presenting the project concluded his speech and the room erupted with claps.
Ryan glanced at Emily to see if she would even stir at this loud sound but nope… She was off, sleeping like a log of wood. I’m sure she would have called him a jerk over and over again if she knew what he was thinking at that moment.
The meeting officially came to an end. “I hope we have been able to convince you Miss Pearl to put in a good word for us,” Ryan smiled and Pearl chuckled.
“Cut the formalities. Of course, you were stunning as always. Boss will surely hear a lot of stories about you,” Pearl stood up and reached out, stretching her hand out to shake Ryan.
Ryan had no other choice but to stand up and accept her kind gesture. Unconsciously, Emily held on to his hand, not willing to let go even while sleeping. So as Ryan rose up, his hand rose and Pearl’s eyes widened when she saw the two interlocked hands.
Ryan shook her hand with his other free hand, unaware of the storm brewing in Pearl’s mind. “When are you leaving?” He asked her, quietly rubbing Emily’s hand.
“Soon,” Pearl didn’t give a definite date. She released his hand and held onto his arms instead causing the employees that were left to gossip about them.
Only Scott and Chris stayed behind, watching them. “Would you like to have lunch with me? Remember, you told me that you’d take me on a tour any time I come to New York,” Pearl faked a smile and looked up at him.
Ryan discreetly released his arm from her grip and forced a smile but before he even had a chance to refuse, someone spoke.
“Cousin… Since you are going on a day… Err… Since you are going to have lunch with Pearl, should I carry my cousin-in-law back instead,” Chris thought that since the scene is getting interesting, why not add more drama?
The deathly glare Ryan sent his way made him shudder in fear. Pearl looked at Emily’s sleeping figure… So she is the one! She is the infamous Emily that is trying to snatch away what doesn’t belong to her.
Pearl gave her a condescending look. There’s nothing special about it. She isn’t even beautiful so why would Ryan choose her out of all the beauties in New York?
“Pearl, I’m afraid I can’t…”
“So she is Emily. Why didn’t you introduce me to her? I wouldn’t have acted rudely if I knew who she was,” Pearl spoke quietly with a look that showed how embarrassed she felt.
“I was planning to. I’ll do that when she wakes up. I’m sure Chris or Scott would be happy to have lunch with you,” Ryan told her with that smile that tugged at her heart gently.
He didn’t notice how her hands clenched tightly beside her. The only thing he noticed was her nod and her smile as she assured him, “Okay. See you around.”
Without another word, she walked out. Scott quickly followed her. Chris wasn’t left behind either. He couldn’t bear to be left alone with Kral that would probably murder him for thinking of even touching Emily.
But just when he thought he had succeeded, Ryan called him back, “How do you think I should punish you?” Chris shook and turned back with a nervous smile.
He pulled his ears gently and pleaded, “Cousin… Just forgive me once. I mean no harm at all… Oh!… I think Pearl is calling my name. I’ll just go and attend to her.”
He immediately ran out of the room. Ryan let him go. Just because he escaped now doesn’t mean he will still get the chance to do so again.
Ryan turned to Emily and gently broke off their linked hands. She grumbled in her sleep when he did that as if she was protesting.
Ryan chuckled and bent to carry her. He burst into laughter when he realized that she was even snoring quietly. What a little, cute piggy! He didn’t waste the opportunity and stole a kiss from her.
It was supposed to be a light kiss… Just a peck on her lips but as soon as he had a taste, he couldn’t resist prying her mouth open to slip his tongue inside.
His teeth latched on her lower lip and he sucked the spot he’d bitten slowly. Emily at first didn’t react but when she started losing breath and was feeling suffocated, she stirred and mumbled some words which were of course swallowed into his mouth.
He still didn’t release her until her hands pushed against his chest. She was feeling suffocated in her sleep and just wanted to push away what was causing her to feel so suffocated.
That was when Ryan released her. He stared at her, looking so innocent while he was there panting hard. If he had known what this would feel like, he’d have claimed her rude mouth sooner.
He still carried her and walked out of the room. He walked straight to his office ignoring the curious glances he got from his employees and as soon as he got in, he walked to a door.
Emily would have been stunned if she was awake cause she had always noticed the door but didn’t think it was open. But Ryan actually built that small room to be his leisure room.
He dropped her on the bed and she finally woke up. “Hubby,” Her soft tone caught Ryan by surprise as she wrapped her hand around his neck. They were clapping so loudly in the room earlier but she didn’t even stir.
Now, he’d carefully dropped her without making a sound and she woke up!
