Chapter 68

Book:TWO-SIDED ALPHA Published:2024-6-2

Scott could feel that something was amiss as soon as Ryan walked in. His eyes had that familiar yet a little bit terrifying crimson colour again.
He couldn’t help but discreetly wonder who had offended the Kral again. Nonetheless, he greeted, “Brother… You are finally back.”
But he was startled when Ryan didn’t even acknowledge his greetings. The latter just shot him a sharp glare and walked out of the room. Scott considered following him but then, he decided against it.
He shrugged and turned back to his video games. Ryan would say what’s gotten him upset later. He didn’t notice that the latter turned around to look at him with a hooded expression.

Emily felt like she was going to suffocate with the intense stares she was receiving. Their faces had a lot of questions written all over them and they were probably refraining from asking her because of her condition.
No matter how she tried to tell both her mother and Lena that she is fine, they both refused to say she should have a good rest since she would go to the office the next day.
Her mom didn’t seem or look particularly pleased when she mentioned that she would go to work the following day but thankfully, she didn’t comment nor did she try to dissuade her cause she already knows that Emily won’t be easily persuaded to stay at home and rest.
“Mom!,” Emily called out and Mrs Jones rushed to her to check her temperature. Emily slowly removed her hand from her forehead, “Mom… I already told you I am perfectly fine now. See, I’m okay.”
Mrs Jones nodded, “Then, why were you calling for me?”
“Mom… I know you want to ask me a bunch of questions. Go on. I’m all ears,” Emily urged.
“But you still…”
“No… Just go on. Ask me the questions you are dying to ask,” Emily immediately refuted her words.
“Who is that man? What is the relationship between you two?” Lena interrupted since her mother looked unwilling to ask such inquisitive questions.
Emily chuckled, watching her mother glare at Lena who pouted in return. What!? It’s just a few harmless questions that she asked.
Though Emily was about to respond, their mother stopped her, “How do you feel now honey? Are you sure you will be able to go to work tomorrow? I’m sure your boss will understand if you don’t turn up at the company tomorrow.”
Emily shook her head quickly, “No mum… I’ll be so bored and none of you will even be at home so please, just allow me to go. I promise I’m fine even if I have said this before.”
She even crossed her heart to prove her words. Mrs Jones signed at this. This child really did inherit his stubborn streak.
Lena coughed lightly, making them aware of her presence because it seemed to her like they had forgotten about her. Emily chuckled, “His name is Ryan.”
She left out his last name because she is very sure that the moment she mentions his last name, Lena or their mother would be able to put the two together and guess his identity.
“I met him at the company. He is also an employee there. Lastly, he is my boyfriend and I like him very much,” She finished her explanation with a genuine smile that convinced Mrs Jones.
Lena however didn’t look satisfied. She still had a few more questions. But before she even got a chance to do so, their mother turned to her.
“Don’t you have class early tomorrow morning?” Lena almost grumbled when she heard this question but she nodded.
“Then why are you still here? Go to your room,” Mrs Jones ordered. It was quite obvious to Lena that she just needs an excuse to chase her out of the room.
She turned to Emily for help but was rudely disappointed. “You should listen to mom,” Emily’s words made her frown. She nodded and kissed both of them goodnight.
When she left the room, Emily turned to her mother. “Mother, go on. I am listening. What else do you want to ask me?” Emily could already guess that her mother chased Lena out of the room because she wanted to inquire about something.
Mrs Jones reached out and held her hands gently. “Emily,” She called out softly. “Hmm.”
“Promise me that you’d say nothing but the truth,” Mrs Jones looked scared for no reason but her pitiful appearance caused Emily to nod.
“I promise.”
Mrs Jones heaved a sigh of relief when Emily said this before she finally asked, “What’s his last name?” She watched Emily’s reaction carefully after saying this.

Lena groaned inwardly and stared at the board with a look of frustration. Why would the worst and her least favourite instructor be the one to teach the lessons this morning?
Taking a quick look around, she soon discovered that she isn’t the only one feeling that way. The one that intrigued her the most is the new student who is dressed in a chic goth style.
Her eyes lingered on the girl much longer than she wanted to and the girl raised her head up, feeling the intense stairs. Her eyes collided with Lena’s and the latter couldn’t help the feeling of familiarity that dawned on her.
It felt like they had known each other before now. Lena furrowed her eyebrows as she tried to recollect where and when she might have seen the new student before but she couldn’t think of anything.
So Lena gave the girl an awkward smile and she just looked away. Just then, the instructor screeched as the class suddenly erupted with laughter.
Lena was confused. “Who threw that spitball at me!?,” The instructor screamed, looking so furious. Lena looked around to figure out what was going on.
Her eyes landed on the new student and she watched the latter hide a smile. She instantly knew that whatever her name was had something to do with what the instructor was screaming about.
“This class will be suspended for two weeks until you all bring out the person who threw this spitball at me!” The class nearly erupted with happiness when they heard this.
