Dimitri
The second Nikolai was shot, chaos erupted. I pulled over the car and jumped out, running towards where the bullet came from.
How did Nikolai even saw someone standing there with the gun was beyond me. He has grown more powerful than what is normal. The energy that flows from on a daily basis is insane. Everyone in the entire pack can feel it in their minds as well.
He’s changed.
He’s evolved.
A mix of witches and zombie witches popped out of thin air and started attacking us.
And we started fighting back immediately.
“Call the army.” I said loudly.
“They are on their way!” Natalia hollered back.
The thing about fighting with witches was that they used magic. But once we got closed to them, they were an easy kill because they were weak.
I spotted Adrik and I saw Faelern, Valerie and Fiyona make their way to him.
They should be able to handle him.
Viktoria was fighting as well. I saw Avalyn kill a witch that was running towards her. Good thing that magic doesn’t work on both her and Nikolai.
I ran towards her. “You heal him.” I told her. “I’ll keep you safe, Luna. I’ll fight till my last breath.” I’ll fulfil my blood oath.
She met my eyes and nodded before she went back to her.
Anybody who came within a six feet of radius around us, I killed in a heartbeat. Nobody can pass through for as long as there is life in my body.
The numbers of witches wasn’t decreasing. New ones kept popping up out of nowhere.
Soon, the army started coming in and the front yard became a gruesome battlefield.
Once the Neos Army came it, it was game over. They took over the entire fight, freeing us.
Ratmir came. “King Nikolai.” He took off his visor as he started at Nikolai who was still being healed by Avalyn.
“Protect the King.” He commanded and a row of soldiers marched in and formed a protective circle around Avalyn and Nikolai.
“No one will be able to enter the circle.” He bowed his head and then joined the fight with his comrades.
I joined the fight too. That’s where I was needed the most right now.
In the next ten minutes, all the witches were dead.
The tree fayes were fighting off Adrik together.
“Why isn’t he dying?” Faelern hissed as he attacked Adrik using his power. Adrik wasn’t affected by the magic but they had formed a sort of magical chain around him that kept him in his place.
“Only the blood of Adrik can kill him.” Viktoria replied. “Only Nikolai can do it.”
“I am his son too. I might just be able to kill him.” Adrian stepped forward.
Viktoria shook her head. “Nikolak is destined to kill Adrik. Only he will be able to kill this monstrous piece of shit.”
I think, Nikolai has grown so much just for this reason. Killing Adrik was his fate.
In that exact moment, Avalyn’s loud, heart-breaking wail pierced the sky.
Avalyn
I heard two loud shots and then I saw Nikolai’s body jerk twice.
“I love you.” He whispered, the inside of his mouth red with blood.
A horrified screamed ripped from my throat when I realised that he had been shot.
He then collapsed forward and he was so huge and heavy that I fell on my back with Klaus squished in between both of us.
Chaos erupted in the air and I heard shouts and screams but I could only focus on Nikolai’s grey eyes as they pierced into my soul.
Klaus started crying and I couldn’t move.
Everything was happening so fast yet so slow that I couldn’t understand what was going on. All I knew was that Nikolai was shot at and I’m going to heal him.
Someone came and helped us move out from under him. It was Eli.
Nikolai was lying on the ground, still on his front. His entire t-shirt had blood on it.
Without wasting another second, I tore it off him.
“Mamma!” Klaus grabbed my arm as he cried.
“Not now Klaus.” I told him without taking my eyes away from Nik. “Go inside and hide. Keep Tori safe, okay?”
“I -I can’t.”
“Yes, yes you can.” I looked at him. “You are strong and capable to do anything you want. And right now, I want you to go inside and keep your sister safe. I need you to be safe. Can you do that for me?”
“I’m scared Mama.” He cried as he looked at Nikolai with wide, terrified eyes.
“Go take him in.” I looked up at Eli. “Keep my kids safe.”
He picked up Klaus and zipped inside, closing the doors.
I looked at Nikolai again. His back was naked and there were two holes in his back.
One dangerously close to his heart.
I need to be careful.
I closed my eyes and raised my arms over his back.
I tuned out the sounds of gunshots, screams and war cries. I tuned out shouts of people all around me.
A specific shout caught my attention and I looked up to see a man running towards me. I raised my hand and his heart flew into my hand before I tossed it aside.
“You heal him.” Dimitri appeared at my side. “I’ll keep you safe, Luna. I’ll fight till my last breath.”
I met his eye and nodded.
No distractions now.
I closed my eyes and raised my arms above Nikolai’s back. The first thing I did was pull out the bullets. They were wooden. I tossed them aside.
And then he started bleeding a lot.
Tears streamed down my face when I saw his condition.
Focus Avalyn.
I focused on healing him.
His heart was slowing down.
I used more power.
It wasn’t helping.
And then, I heard his heart stop.
My body shook as I sobbed but I didn’t stop healing him.
Nik can’t die.
Not the second time.
Not like this again.
He can’t die!
I screamed to the moon, begging mother Luna to give me more power.
I don’t believe in God of Goddess. I have never.
But now, she’s my only hope.
I’m willing to do whatever it takes.
I tried finished healing him but his heart was still.
Nikolai is dead.
A wail ripped from my throat. “Nikolai!”
I shook his body. “You can’t leave me!” I screamed. “Not again. Not ever!”
He was healed now! Why isn’t he waking up?
Why is he not breathing?
Why is his heart not beating?
“Nikolai!” I rolled him over, pumping his chest.
“Wake up!”
“Please wake up!” I sobbed.
His eyes were open as they stared lifelessly into the sky.
I clutched his body to my arms and rocked him. “Wake up, Nikolai.”
“Please wake up.”
His head rolled back.
His eyes were lifeless.
No.
No. No. No. NO.
“Wake up, Nikolai.”
“You can’t leave me alone.”
“Not again.”
“I’m sorry I left.”
“I love you.”
“Please wake up.”
