I asked him, “So staring at the stars is a fun thing to do?”
“At least it is better than wasting time here in the yard. Come, let’s go and find the stars that belong to us.” Leon persisted.
“What happened to you? First you want to sing Rock-N-Roll, and now you want to see the stars. You do have a young soul, don’t you?”
“Of course I do, because I’m still a young man! Are you coming or not?”
“I’m tired, and we all drank so much tonight, who is going to drive. I think we should have a rest.”
“Fine. It’s alright if we don’t go see the stars. But you will have to sleep with me.” Leon got a new request.
“No!” I said immediately.
“How can you be so cruel?”
“First, we are only friends now, and we can’t do whatever we want. Second, I’m having a period. And third, I don’t want to.”
Leon frowned and said, “Why do you say so much. Why don’t you just tell me you don’t want to.”
I said, “Basically that’s what I mean.”
“No! You have only two options. Either you come and see the stars with me or you sleep with me. You can pick one. Besides, I know when is your period. You can’t fool me.”
I blushed. “You remembered my period? What kind of man are you!”
“I didn’t mean to remember it. Alright? I remembered it by accident.” Leon said.
I looked at my watch, and it was rather late. “I need to sleep now, because I have something to deal with tomorrow.”
“Right. Tomorrow you are going back to Hai City with me. We should rest now because I have a very important meeting to attend to tomorrow afternoon.”
Speaking of which, I found it necessary to talk with him about this.
“Oh, I was about to tell you this. I think you should stop coming to Yang City so often, or your career may get effected. And you will exhaust yourself if you keep traveling between the two cities.”
Leon agreed happily, which I found hard to believe. “Fine. I agree with you.’
Then he said, “I will stop coming to Yang City as long as you are in Hai City, because I came here all because you are here. You don’t think I traveled here because I love this city right?”
What he said placed me in a very awkward position.
“I am not going back in the near future because I have got a lot to deal with in Yang City. And you should really stop traveling between the two cities.”
” Do you feel that you are in one way or another related to Nan Su and you want to figure out the relation?” Leon asked.
This question had indeed been bothering me for a long time. But I don’t want to admit it because Nan Su is the daughter of Su Family and my attempts to figure out the relationship between me and Nan Su can be considered by other people as attempts to find my relation to Family Su.
But frankly speaking, I indeed thought about it and I don’t want to pretend in front of Leon.”
“I shouldn’t be blamed if I indeed want to figure it out, should I? As you said, I do look like Nan Su, and whoever she is, she is someone that looks a lot like me. So I just want to know the truth, and I don’t care about the consequences.”
Leon nodded. “I understand. That’s why I have never asked you to come back. You can come back when everything is sorted out. But I do miss you, and Hai City is like an empty city to me without you in there. I couldn’t help but coming to here and visit you. And you can’t blame me,”
What he said was very touching because I also know that kind of feeling.
“Fine. We shouldn’t intervene in each other’s life. Anyway, I don’t want your traveling to affect your job.”
“Don’t worry. I know what am I doing.”Leon said. “Now go to sleep. It’s late.”
Leon didn’t pester me by asking me to sleep with him. We said good night and we went to separate rooms. Knowing that Leon was also in the room makes me feel comforted and I went fast into sleep the moment I got on bed.
But I was soon awakened by the realization that there was a man lying beside me. And I could tell it was Leon by his smell. But since he was not doing anything, I went back to sleep, pretending I knew nothing about it.
In the midnight, I woke up to find myself in Leon’s arm, and he was in sound sleep, and I also went back to sleep.
It was six o’clock the next time I woke up, and usually this is when I get up. Leon should set off or his work may get affected.
But seeing that he is asleep, I didn’t want to wake him. So I got off bed and went to prepare breakfast for him.
But when I got off bed, I turned around and found Leon opened his eye quickly and, realizing I was looking at him, shut his eyes fast. He was awake, and he was only pretending,
I kicked him and said, “Stop pretending. Now you are awake you should go back to Hai City for the meeting.”
Leon got up and put on a great show. He looked around and said, “Why am I in this room? I wasn’t in this room when I went to sleep.”
“Mr Hua quit it. You know your weight. Could I possibly carry you here? You know perfectly why you are here”
“What are you talking about? I wasn’t pretending at all! You couldn’t carry me here. I think I must walked in my sleep. I’m so sorry. Did I scare you?”
“No you didn’t. I went to the zoo, and animals do not frighten me.”
“That’s right. You do have a very good mental capacity. After all, you grow up in the woods.” Leon fought back.
I left him alone and went for a shower.
The breakfast was simple. There was bread, and I heated two cups of milk, fried two eggs and prepared some fruits.
Leon enjoyed the breakfast a lot, and he kept complimenting the food.
I said, “What is so good about milk and bread? If you like, there is more.”
Leon bate his bread, and pointed at the egg, and said, “I was talking about the eggs. They are so delicious as if they were laid by you.”
And then pointing at the milk, he said, “and this milk is so yummy, like it is milked by you.”
I punched him. “What a load of crap? Do you lay eggs? If you do, show me. But I bet the eggs you laid are both smelly and hard as rocks. After all, that’s the kind of person you are.”
“That’s why I don’t lay eggs.” Leon said
“Eat your food, and then you shall go. I am also leaving.”
