Chapter 312

Book:Confused Love Published:2024-5-1

Time passed quickly, and finally, after six days in the hospital, the doctor said I could leave.
For a week, I’ve been confined to my ward and I really could not stand it anymore. If I had stayed there for a few more days, I would have been afraid that I might develop a new disease.
Leon Hua didn’t come to pick me up because he had an important meeting, but Ying Hua came.
I hugged her because the doctor had told me that I could totally touch other people and did not need to worry about infecting others.
Ying looked me up and down and said that I seemed to gain some weight instead of losing it when I was ill. How did that happen?
Of course I knew why. Since Leon sent delicious food to me everyday, and convinced me to build up my health by eating a lot, as a result, I was convinced by him to eat many food everyday, so of course I gained some weight.
Ying asked me what I would like to eat, because she wanted to celebrate my hospital discharge.
I thought for a second, but I really didn’t know what I wanted to eat. Because these days Leon had bought me all kinds of food, and I had eaten all the delicious food that I usually had no time to eat in the Hai City. Although the doctor kept asking me to have a light diet, Leon did not care about it at all and he thought as long as I could eat, it didn’t matter whether the food was light or not.
Finally, Ying took me to eat some snacks. Then she took me to her clinic of traditional Chinese medicine and gave me some physical therapy. Although the Western medicine cured my disease quickly, the traditional Chinese medicine was better at the radical cure.
I went to work after resting for just one day at home.
Everyone in the company knew I was sick, but I didn’t let them visit me because I didn’t want to make the news widespread. A lot of work was piled up in the last few days and I finally completed my work after I had been busy working for two days.
I had just finished a meeting that morning when my assistant came and said there was a call from the Yang City.
I picked up the phone and it should be Wenbei Su. He also heard of my illness and he asked me if I got well. I said I was almost cured and he said he hoped I could go back to Yang City to deal with the business there.
He just told me to go back, but he didn’t say what I should do after I went back. Besides, as I hung up the phone, I thought I heard his cough, which made me a little worried. Was he still ill? I didn’t think it was possible since I was sick after him and how could he not get well now that I was cured?
I was worried about him, so I called him again and asked him about his condition. He said he was fine, just was a little busy recently and he needed my help to deal with some business, so he asked me to come back.
I said okay, I would go back after I got the work done here.

As I had to go through another city to do some errands, I chose to drive back to the Yang City by myself. And I arrived in the city at ten o ‘clock in the evening because of my delay.
I was indeed a little tired. After getting off the highway, I didn’t go to see Wenbei directly because I wanted to find a hotel to stay first and have a rest, then I would go to see him the next day.
But before I found a suitable hotel, Wenbei called again to ask me where I had been. I said that I had just arrived in the Yang City, and then he asked me to go to ‘Nan House’ to see him, where he was waiting for me.
I almost forgot that the other place I could stay was just the Nan House, since I always kept the key of it and had been living in there on my own, I didn’t need to live in a hotel at all.
I smelled the scent of the traditional Chinese medicine after parking my car at the door of Nan House. I was very sensitive to the taste of the traditional Chinese medicine because my foster mother, who was bad in health used to decoct the traditional Chinese medicine. Although other people thought the medicine didn’t smell very good, I thought it had a kind of unique fragrance.
Generally, no one lived in Nan House, so how could there have the smell of the traditional Chinese medicine? Who was decocting the medicine here? I felt a little worried.
When I went inside of the house, I saw a woman named Sister Huang from Wenbei’s family was decocting the medicine, which was bubbling up in the casserole, and that was where the fragrance came out.
“Miss Yao, you’re here? The young master is in the innermost room.” It looked like Sister Huang knew I was coming.
“Who are you decocting the medicine for? Who is ill?” I asked anxiously.
She cried at once, “The young master is ill, go and see him now, Miss Yao.”
I turned around and rushed to the innermost room. The door was half open and I saw Wenbei reading a book when I opened the door.
He looked up at me. He looked very pale, even a little greyish, seemed to look worse than the last time I had seen him, and I thought he had lost a great deal of weight.
He was lying on a bed with a wheelchair next to it, which made me even more nervous.
“You’re here, my little sister? I heard you was infected by my disease. How are you?” Although he tried hard to be energetic, it was clear to me that he was physically weak.
“I’m fine, my second brother. What’s the matter with you? Haven’t you got well yet?” I felt like I was going to cry, because I knew Wenbei’s illness definitely was getting worse after seeing his wheelchair.
“I’ve had an accident. I got well from the flu already, but my doctor found some toxins in my body, which affected some of my organs, so I need a long period of recuperation.” Wenbei pretended to say with ease.
“Toxins? Why?”
“The doctor said that I might have been poisoned by some heavy metals that I had ingested for a long time, but I have always been eating healthy food. Finally, I found something wrong with the drinking water in my office, someone must have been poisoning my water for a long time, and my immunity is weakened and my organs are damaged because I had been drinking the water.”
I was shocked, “Who poisoned your water?”
“I don’t know yet. The drinking water in my office is of the designated brand, so the water manufacturer was not related with the poison. I think the worker who delivered the water might have something to do with it, but he has resigned and has not been found.”
“The worker had no reason to poison you since you never offended him. Maybe he did such a thing under someone’s instigation.”
Wenbei nodded, ” Of course, but I really could not figure out who made the instigation right now, besides, I don’t want to make a big deal out of it, lest I should alert my enemy. Fortunately, I found it out very early, and I just could not move freely now. If I had found it later, I would have probably be dead. Now I can recover slowly after the recuperation with the traditional Chinese medicine after one month or two.”
I pointed at the wheelchair, “Do you need a wheelchair to move around now? How could your illness be so serious?”
“It’s normal. The toxins have affected some of my nerves, so I can’t move now, but it’s only temporary and I’ll recover after a while.” Wenbei seemed to be very calm.
But I was not calm at all. Since Wenbei was my great benefactor and the best person to me, I was so angry about his being poisoned that I must take revenge for him.
“My second brother, no matter who had done you harm, I must find him out! Those people are so vicious that they will definitely hurt you again now that they didn’t achieve their goal!”
Wenbei indicated me not to be too excited, “Sister, we must be cool about this thing. Since the Su family have many rivals in the Hai City, it is not easy for us to figure out who did that thing on earth. So we must be very careful and the most important thing for us to do right now is just not letting other people know about my disability.”
“Not letting other people know? No one else knows about this thing now?”
Wenbei nodded, “After I knew about my condition, I asked my doctor to do something about it to cover up my illness. I worked for another two days just to confuse my opponent who is hiding in the shadows. What I announced to the public is that I’m planning a big, new project, so I won’t go to the company for a while. But nobody knew the true reason why I could not go to the company was that I was sick.”
