But I didn’t dare to show that I had forgotten about it, so I said, “I was young and didn’t know anything, I was just joking with you. I’m glad that I can run into you today.”
Now that I had come this so far, I would take it as a chance encounter.
“I’m meeting up with some classmates today. Why don’t you join us? We haven’t heard from you since you took a break from school. Everyone misses you.” Feng Shen said.
I was trying to figure out how to ask him out to dinner, so I was certainly happy that he took the initiative to invite me.
“I’d love to.”
“Ok, I’ll see you all at the Zhongnan Restaurant at six in the afternoon.”
“Okay, I’ll see you tonight then. How about you leave your contact information?” I said with a smile.
“Here’s my card. You must come.” Feng Shen handed me his business card to me with the words of the CEO of Blue Sea Technology Ltd on it.
“Yes, I’ll be there.” I also left him my phone number.
“I still have something to do, so I’ll be leaving first. Do you want to go back to the city together?”
I had meant to come in contact with him as well, and even though I had the opportunity now, I couldn’t behave too eagerly. I didn’t know him very well, and I’d better be cautious. So I smiled and declined, “I still want to hang out here for a while, I’ll see you tonight.”
“Okay, six o’clock in the evening, Zhongnan Restaurant, see you later.”
“See you.” I said with a smile.
This was going even better than I thought it would. My mood that had been affected by that guy before became better.
I sat at the rest area for a while, figuring that Feng Shen was already far away before I headed to the parking area, ready to drive back to the city.
But just before I reached the parking area, I heard someone calling me from behind, “Hey, rookie!”
I couldn’t help but frown, but it was that guy again.
He’d changed his clothes, wearing pink cropped pants a red short-sleeved T-shirt with a devil print on the chest, and a skull necklace around his neck. His very deep eye sockets and harsh facial lines made him look like a villain from anime.
He was very distinctive. He was the one who can attract attention in a group of people due to one thing, his mixed-race looks, and then his bohemian demeanor.
People often said that bad guys didn’t have the word bad written on their faces, but this guy in front of me had words written on his face, I am a bad guy.
Whether it was from the strange way he was dressed, his long grey dyed hair, cold and dark eyes, which they all told you he was not a good guy, although he was good looking.
He walked towards me, “I checked that horse is Leon Hua’s, what is your relationship with Leon Hua?”
I didn’t answer. I was confused as to what he meant by that question. He was Leon’s rival or friend.
Leon was also evil and bad, so he might be Leon’s friend.
It was fine if he was a friend, but if he was Leon’s enemy, that’s greatly bad, so I couldn’t tell him about my relationship with Leon.
“You’re not his wife, are you?” The guy looked at me with a cold, uncomfortable look.
“He’s my boss.” I said.
“Oh, you’re an employee of his company? An employee of his company can ride his horse?” He wasn’t convinced.
“Mr. Hua is busy with work and don’t have time to come over here. So he asked me to see his horse. I was curious and want to ride it. But I didn’t expect the horse to run so fast after you slapped him. I hope you won’t tell Mr. Hua about it.”
I said this to test how well he knew Leon and to see if he had Leon’s way of associating with him.
On the one hand, it seemed that he was interested in Leon, but on the other hand, he didn’t know that I was Leon’s wife. I was wondering if he and Leon was enemies or not.
“I see. How is Leon Hua doing now?” He asked me with great interest.
That meant it had been a long time since he met Leon.
“Mr. Hua is fine.” I replied simply.
“Well, it’s a nice horse, Leon Hua must really like it, right?” He asked another strange question.
“Yes, Mr. Hua liked it very much.” I had to reluctantly answer.
“Good, it’s good if he likes it.” He was really strange and I had no idea what he was trying to say.
“If there’s nothing else, I’ll leave first.” I said politely, not daring to mess with him.
He waved his hand, “Ok, bye. We’ll see each other again.” He smiled evilly.
I quickly made my way to the car. Once I was inside, I locked the door and started the car, driving away from the racecourse quickly.
On the way there I called Leon to tell him what I was doing at the racecourse, but his private phone was off.
I called the office and his assistant told me that he was in a meeting at headquarters.
I went back to the office and went over that acquisition plan a few times. I planned how I would talk to Feng Shen about it at the evening.
Until the end of the day, Leon did not return.
I avoided leaving work early at the peak, came home to change my clothes, and then took a taxi to go to Feng Shen’s appointment in Zhongnan Restaurant.
I didn’t drive there because I considered the possibility that I might drink, and I didn’t want to go in my car. My car wasn’t a super luxury car, but it did have to be a bit fancier than the most people’s. When I met my college friends after so many years, I didn’t know what condition they were in, and I didn’t want them to mistake me for driving to show off my wealth.
When I got to the door of the restaurant, I was about to call Feng Shen and ask him which room he was in. At that time my phone rang, it was exactly Feng Shen’s calling. He was calling to ask if I arrived at the hotel.
I told him I was at the door. He said he was behind me.
I turned around and saw him smiling and walking quickly towards me.
“They’re on the third floor. Let’s go up. After all these years, you’re still so pretty.” Feng Shen praised me as we walked.
Frankly speaking everyone likes to hear compliments, I was the same.
Whether his words were sincere or not, it was indeed pleasant to hear.
“Thanks.” I said with a smile.
When we reached the door of the private room, Feng Shen said to me, “You stand outside the door first. I want to give them a surprise.”
He had me stand next to him, and then he pushed the door in. He said, “Everyone, I’ve brought you someone today, you’ll never guess who she is.”
In the midst of curious questions, I was led by him to the crowd. What surprised me was that almost all of these people called out my name,” Nala Yao, it’s you.”
I took a closer look and found several of these people who came were even my classmates back then.
It seemed that Feng Shen was very sociable, he even had contact with people who weren’t in the same class with him.
When we met again after all these years, I was touched that they recognized me at once. It’s always nice and sweet to have someone in the world who still remembers you.
