In the afternoon, I handled things of the business and then left the company. When I arrived at the parking lot, Xuanlong Jiang was already waiting for me there.
I got in the car and he gave me some photos, people in photos were the ones whom the sales manager called San Zhao had met today, one of them was Moyun Feng.
“Fourth Brother said this matter was at your disposal.” Xuanlong Jiang was as impassive as usual.
“I want to meet him in private and talk to him. But I need your protection.”
“No problem. But you should be careful enough. That man was really sly.” Xuanlong warned me.
“Don’t worry. I will not allow him succeed this time. I’ll never make the same mistake and let him hurt me again.”
“I trust you. By the way, I have discussed with Fourth Brother about how do I call you. He didn’t want me to call you Mrs. Hua. You know…we are like real brothers. So he wanted me to call you Nala. Is that ok?” Xuanlong asked.
“I don’t mind. Just call me Nala. I can see that he shows respect to you. I’ve always regarded you as my elder brother. I have no family. So I really want a brother.”
“Ok, let’s go now and find San Zhao.”
“Do you know where is he now?”
“I did some research and found out that he was dating with a shop assistant in the shopping mall where you worked before. He waits for her everyday after work. If we go there now, we’ll find him.”
“He looked quite old, doesn’ he have a girlfriend?”
“His kids are in elementary school. He just did this for fun. The man is lecherous.”
“When we see him later, you just hide in the dark, I’ll go and meet with him. I want to have a talk with him.”
“Okay, be safe. And don’t worry. I’ll keep some distance with you. But if something bad happens, I will show up.”
“With your protection, I’m not worried at all.”
The car stopped at a location which is not far away from the mall I used to work in. Xuanlong pointed to the white car right across the street. “That’s his car. He waits here everyday for that girl to get off work. You can get into his car. I’ll follow you. But, please be safe.”
“Don’t worry. I didn’t expect he would drug me in that situation, that’s why I got blindsided by him yesterday. Today I’ll be more careful.”
“Fine, do it now.”
I got off the car and walked across the street. Then I went straight to the white Buick and knocked at the car window.
The window was rolled down. The man in it was exactly San Zhao.
As soon as he saw me, his expression became panicked. But soon he calmed down and said, “What a coincidence, Miss. Yao.”
I glanced at my watch. “It’s still early to leave work yet. What are you doing here, Mr. Zhao?”
“Uh…I was waiting for a client.” He said.
I opened the backseat door and got on. “Which client? I’ll go with you.”
“You don’t have to go. Just a small client. I won’t bother you meeting him in person. I can handle it myself.” San Zhao tried to decline.
“I haven’t been in this position for long, there are still lots of things I haven’t learnt yet. Now that I have the chance to meet with a client, this may help me to know the business better.”
“You really don’t have to do this, Miss. Yao. That client was just a small one, he’s not worth your time. If you go, he’ll feel nervous. Why not let me meet with him alone?”
“Fine, so let’s not talk about the clients. What about things happened last night? Shouldn’t you give me a reasonable explanation, Mr. Zhao?”
I secretly turned on the switch of digital recorder.
“What kind of explanation? Last night Miss. Yao has been drunk. I sent you to the hotel for resting out of kindness, but was misunderstood by your friends, I was even beaten by him. Didn’t you see the scar on my face?” San Zhao touched the scar on his face.
“I knew you were going to say that. San Zhao, if that’s your attitude, there’s no need to discuss more. Please don’t say I didn’t give you the chance to tell the truth.”
“Miss. Yao, I don’t understand what do you mean. I was telling the truth.”
“You are a married man who has extra-marital affairs with a staff in the shopping mall. Though our company has no specific regulations about this, this was unethical. If others hear the news, I bet it’s not good for you. Now I am the Sales Director of this company. More importantly, I am the wife of Leon Hua. How dare you treat me with disrespect! You know what’s Leon like. If you don’t cooperate with me, I promise, you’ll lose one of your legs within three days. By the way, what I mean is that you’ll never get your leg back.”
“Miss. Yao, I was just trying to help you…”
“Shut up, San Zhao. The security camera showed clearly that you put the drug in my glass. You don’t want to confess now? Do you really want to spend your life as a disabled man in the bed? If that’s your choice, I have nothing to say. Just wait and see.”
I said this coldly and was about to get off the car.
“Please wait, Miss. Yao.” San Zhao stopped me.
“If you still want to tell me that you’re trying to help me instead of ruining me. We don’t need to talk anymore. Just wait to lose your leg. You must have heard about Xuanlong Jiang who worked for Leon. You know about his style, right?”
“I can explain…”
“I knew it was Moyun Feng who asked you to do so. He wanted to humiliate me and Leon. The first day I went into the company, he tried to pull me on to his side, but I didn’t agree. So he asked you to drug me. If you really wanted to send me to rest, you should’ve called my family, why did you send me to the hotel directly? What did Moyun promise to give you for doing such dirty things for him?”
San Zhao didn’t say a word. He must have been considering whether to rat Moyun out.
“Miss. Yao, it’s really hard for us little staffs getting involved in your struggle at the top. Please forgive me this time, I’ll never do it again.”
He kind of confessed, but he didn’t say the name of Moyun yet.
I knew I couldn’t make him resolved to tell the truth by threatening him. I need Xuanlong to help me by special means.
I didn’t say anything and got off the car.
After getting back to Xuanlong’s car, I told him what just happened.
He said, “This kind of rotten man was always like this. He wouldn’t tell you the truth until he dies. Let me kick his ass and then you can talk to him.”
After saying this, Xuanlong made a phone call.
About ten minutes later, a black car hit San Zhao’s Buick. A few men got off the car and surrounded the man. Then they punched and kicked him right in the street. After doing this, they drove away and left here.
I walked across the street again. San was sitting in the car and wiping his bleeding nose with tissues
“Did you get hurt, Mr. Zhao? Can we talk now?”
San Zhao looked painful, “Miss. Yao, please forgive me, I’m really sorry. I’ll never do it again.”
“Just tell me, what kind of rewards did Moyun promise to give you for setting me up? This is the last chance I gave you. If you are not going to tell me the truth, I won’t come to you in the future. Just wait to be a disabled man.”
