Xuanlong nodded, “Nan Lin has a deep affection for Fourth Brother. Fourth Brother wouldn’t deny Nan Lin the whole of her just because she made one mistake. But he’s a reasonable person, he has his own way of doing things.”
“I’m just worried about him falling for Lin Nan. I’m not jealous.” I explained.
“I was just under orders. As for your family matters, I cannot interfere.” Xuanlong said carefully.
Out of the warehouse, Xuanlong sent me back to the Maple Villa.
Leon didn’t return and I didn’t know where he had gone.
Alex wasn’t there either, and maid Zhen told me that he was sent to Hua Family.
A lot things had happened recently, and Leon had probably considered Alex’s safety as well. It would be safer to send him to the Hua family now.
At eight o’clock in the evening, I sat in the yard and wondered if that man had gone to find Nan Lin. Did Leon know the truth?
But again, I thought if I were Nan Lin , I certainly wouldn’t let that man find me now. When Leon said that he was going to kill the man, Nan Lin was all for it. If possible, I was afraid she would find a way to get the man out of the city. If she did so, then the evidence was gone.
I couldn’t wait any longer. I had to find the man first. But where can I find him? If I had his contact information, then I could talk to him, but now I had nothing and couldn’t reach him at all.
Then one place came to my mind, and that was the private clinic. Every patient who went for treatment needed to leave some personal information, such as name and age. If I was lucky, I might be able to find the man’s cell phone number so that I can reach the man.
I slipped out of Maple Villa and took a cab to that clinic.
There were lights in clinic. I was about to go in when a man came out of it. I couldn’t believe it was that guy!
He saw me, too, and the atmosphere suddenly was changed with tension.
“I want to talk to you.” I said as calmly as I could.
He didn’t speak, just looked at me. I didn’t think he has any malice towards me. Only he looked at Leon with hate in his eyes.
“I mean no harm, I just want to talk to you.” I said again.
He still didn’t respond, intending to leave.
“Please don’t try to kill Leon again, you won’t succeed. You’re going to trap yourself in this. It’s not worth it to do this for Nan Lin. During the day in the warehouse, Leon pretended to tell Nan Lin that he want to kill you, and Nan did not object. And she said if you threaten Leon and you should go to hell.”
He stopped in his tracks and looked back at me, a look with sadness.
Looking at his expression, I was confident that I guessed right.
“Let’s find a place to talk. Don’t worry, Leon won’t ask you trouble. If he wants to bother you, he wouldn’t have let you go today. I am a woman, and you don’t need to fear from me.”
“Aren’t you afraid I’ll threaten Leon Hua with you?” he said suddenly.
I was suddenly a little scared, but I put on a subdued face. “You wouldn’t do that. Since I dare to come here, I’m not afraid of you doing so.”
“What do you want to talk to me?” His tone eased a bit, and I got the feeling he was slowly letting his guard down.
“Shall we find a place to sit?” I tried to keep my tone light.
He didn’t say anything more, turned around and headed out the door, and I had to follow him.
Luckily, there was a restaurant nearby and he walked in and I followed too.
“Do you want a bowl of ramen?” He asked me.
I shook my head, “Thanks, I am not hungry now.”
“How can you rich people eat such cheap food.” He said.
“I eat it all the time, and I love it.” I corrected him and sat down in front of him.
“I attacked your husband and set you up. Why do you still look for me?” He asked.
“You’re not a bad person, you did that because of Nan Lin.”
He took the ramen served by the waiter and ate them gently with his chopsticks, “What do you know?”
“You and Lin Nan are on the same side, but you are different from her. You wanted to work in the Hua Group in the first place because you wanted to cooperate with Nan Lin to exclude me. But you attacked Leon, but that’s not what she meant, am I right?”
He didn’t speak, eating his ramen silently.
“You like Nan Lin, so you’re willing to everything for her. But when you find out that when Lin Nan approaches Leon, she becomes different from the one that you knew before, you blame this for Leon. You think it’s that Leon that makes Nan don’t love you anymore, so you want to kill him. You think that if without Leon, Nan Lin also wouldn’t become a bad person.”
He stopped eating the ramen and put his chopsticks on the bowl, “Was it Leon who asked you to spy on me?”
I laughed, “You underestimate Leon too much, he has a nickname called Fourth Brother. He was very powerful in Hai City. If he’s going to find you, you won’t have a chance to get out of Hai City at all. The fact that he can catch you in such a short time has shown his power. He doesn’t need me to find you. I come here because I want to talk to you.”
He didn’t speak, just stared at me.
“I said I meant no harm. I am just reminding you that Lin Nan is no longer the girl you know before. I am afraid she can do whatever it takes to achieve her aims, and you should not sacrifice yourself because of her. What she’s going to do is her own business and you should stay out of it. Even if you help her squeeze me out and she marries Leon, what will you get? She’ll give you a big fortune and let you go? I don’t think so. In view of the way she’s acting now, she may kill you to hide all her secrets.”
He still didn’t speak with his head bowing slightly. He seemed very sad.
Although he had attacked Leon with a knife, I didn’t think he was a bad guy. I actually thought he was simple and humble.
“I know it’s painful for you to help someone you like to marry another man. Whether your purpose is served or not, you are the one suffering the most. But Nan Lin doesn’t care about you, she doesn’t even stop Leon from killing you. You really don’t have to do anything for her.”
He kept silent but took out his cell phone and suddenly handed it to me.
I was a little curious, not knowing what he meant, but I picked up the phone. It was a photo of a beautiful girl on the phone. She was a bit like Nan Lin, but not quite. The lower part of her face was very different from Nan Lin.
The girl in the photo was smiling.
“Is this Nan?” I was a little confused. what did he mean by showing me this picture?
“She’s not, her name is Lili Huang.”
I was even more confused as to why he was showing me a picture of other girls.
“She’s the current Nan Lin. She spent all my savings on plastic surgery to look more like Nan Lin. She said she was going to give me a few million dollars in return. She said that as long as she married Leon Hua, we would get a lot of money later.” As he said this, there was sadness in his eyes.
My heart thudded and I seemed to know something.
