Chapter 26

Book:Fated To Be His Mate Published:2024-6-2

His head bangs hard as he tries to open his eyes, and he closes them back again. His whole body aches badly, and he’s also weak. He feels like all his strength has been drained, and his eyes are dizzy.
Seconds slowly tick into minutes before he finally forces his eyes open, and the blurry white ceiling welcomes him. The ceiling is strange and doesn’t look like the ceiling of his room, but that’s not his problem. His problem is to see clearly, and also where he is and how he ended up here.
Two minutes later, his vision finally becomes clear, and he manages to look around the room. The room is pained in white, the pink colored curtains look extremely beautiful and fit the color of the paint. He spots the closet standing adjacent to the big bed he’s lying on. He slowly tilts his head to the other side of the room, where he’s welcomed with a set of cosmetics. The room belongs to a woman, judging from the way things are arranged.
He groans painfully as he tries to sit up on the bed, but his body refuses to move, so he just rests on the bed. Is he kidnapped? Where is this place? He asks himself, getting more confused.
After what seemed like forever, the door finally opened, and a familiar cologne fill the atmosphere. That cologne belongs to his assistant, he can always recognize her cologne.
“You’re awake, Sir?” Her voice confirms his confusion, and he slowly tilts his head to see her standing there. She looks happy.
“Why can’t I move my body?” Getting freaked out already, he asks curiously.
“Uhm… You have to rest for some time, and you’ll be fine,” she assures him, even knowing that it’s not fine. He has been infected with wolfbane, and it’s going to be difficult to get rid of it. Wondering how she discovered that? Well, Lydia is a werewolf that has been hiding her identity as she lives in the human world. She was happy the first time she set her eyes on Dean, which was when she realized that he was a werewolf like herself.
Wondering who Lydia is? Well, she’s the daughter of one of the dangerous alphas in the werewolf realm. She’s the princess of a pack, which she hasn’t disclosed yet. It’s unclear why she left the pack and decided to travel to the united states. Why would a princess leave her hometown where she gets all the love, care, and attention, and decided to come to a place where nobody knows her? Maybe she has her reason for doing that.
“Who is he? That man…” He questions curiously, staring into her eyes as if the answer is written on her face. He’s sure that the person with that strong scent was the one that did this to his body, but who’s he? What does he want? Why is he after his life? Those are the questions that keeps running through his mind as he stares into her eyes.
She looks extremely scared. She opens her mouth to talk, but her lips only tremble with no words coming from it. She looks like there’s more to know, she looks like she’s hiding something from him, and it’s already driving him crazy. Now, he’s suspecting her.
“Wh… which man?” She finally manages to stabilize herself, pulling a puzzled look, but who says that he will fall for that innocent look of hers? He’s not so stupid to believe her.
“Th… the man… He… his sce…” Realizing what he’s about to say, he stops abruptly and bit his bottom lip. She’ll ask him what scent, and maybe she may know his secret then. He has been hiding his identity since he got to the united states.
“Which man?” She asks again, feigning ignorance.
“Never mind. How did I end up here?” He asks confusingly. He can recall everything that happened, the man couldn’t have left him there unharmed, right? He was there for a purpose, and he’s sure that he wouldn’t have survived it, so how come he’s here?
“You should get some rest, Sir. You look weak,” she says to him instead, ignoring his question.
His eyes suddenly feel heavy, and he lay back on the bed…
Later in the evening…
“How’s he feeling now, Jordan?” Lydia asks the man that has been examining Dean.
“The wolfbane has to be removed from his blood. It’s killing him slowly,” Jordan finally turns to face Lydia. Her face drops sadly, as she shakes her head. Jordan is a werewolf who was sent into exile. He’s from the smallest pack in the werewolf realm. It’s unclear what his crime was, but he never wanted to talk about it with anyone. He has been friends with Lydia from the time she stepped into the country, and the two have been so close. He’s a doctor.
“You… you have to do something about this. We can’t watch him die. He… he… he needs to… Just do something, please,” she pleads with him, tears brimming in her eyes. She has been working as Dean’s PA for almost one years, and she has already grown fond of him. Although he rarely talks, he’s the best boss that can melt anyone’s heart. Not only is he a good man, he already captured her heart, and losing him is the last thing she wants to happen.
“It’s not something that can be cured with injections, ma’am. You should look for someone that’ll extract the poison from him. If you happen to find anyone, make sure you tell him or her that they’ll be losing half of their power, to save him,” he further explains, and she glances over at Dean, whose eyes are closed.
“Uhm… Can I do it?” She suddenly asks, and the man slowly narrows his eyes in shock. He wasn’t expecting that from her.
“You’re going to risk your life to do that, Lydia. Do you know the consequence of it?” The man sneers at her, and she runs her fingers through her hair frustratingly.
“I know, but watching him die. It’s unfair…”
“And hurting yourself for him is fair?” He cuts her off furiously.
“That doesn’t matter, Jordan. I don’t care about what happens to me. He needs to be fine,” she replies to him, and he sighs softly.
“Is that how important he is to you?” His face hardens as he slowly clenches his fists, glaring at her…
