Paula Rouco was awakened by Susana’s life-threatening chain of calls as she slept in the wee hours of the morning.
When she picked up the phone, Susana’s voice pierced her eardrums with emotion: “Paulita! Your Severo is in the news again.
Paula Rouco rubbed her eyes, “Did he win another lawsuit?”.
“No! His scumbag father set him up to take a hit! His scum daddy is so shameless that he does one thing in front of people and another behind their backs!”
Scum daddy?
Paula Rouco came to her senses and remembered that Severo had told her that his father had been a kidnapper and had gone to jail.
“But isn’t Severo’s father in jail?”
Susana said, “His father recently got out of jail and as soon as he did, he made out!”.
“I’m going to stop talking to you for a moment to watch the news.”
After Paula Rouco hung up the phone, she quickly went to check the hotspots and saw a video that had gone viral on the Internet.
A middle-aged and elderly man with a loudspeaker at the entrance of Bufete S, R, L denouncing the indignity of Severo Laris.
Paula Rouco thought Severo Laris’ father looked familiar, but she could never remember where she had met him.
But she didn’t think deeply about it, and all her attention was on Severo Laris being sullied.
That video, already has 50. 000 retweets, 70. 000 comments and 110. 000 likes.
The comments section is full of uninformed people and keyboard warriors who keep slinging mud against Severo Laris.
Those comments were nasty.
Shortly thereafter, some Internet users ran to the official blog of Bufete S, R, L and cursed him, denouncing Bufete S, R, L for hiring unscrupulous and unethical lawyers.
Public opinion has festered so much that Internet users have poured foul on it and no one cares about the alleged truth.
Paula Rouco immediately called Severo Laris.
Severo Laris was slow to pick up the phone.
“Severo…” the words came to her lips but she swallowed them back down.
Severo Laris answered quietly, “What’s wrong?”
Paula Rouco knew that a man of his pride did not mind putting his embarrassments in front of others to gain their sympathy and pity.
If he did not mention it voluntarily, she would not ask again.
Paula Rouco shook her head and said, “Nothing, it’s just that I sent you a message the other day but you didn’t answer me.”
Severo Laris’ tone was, as always, light and uncharacteristic: “I’m going to be a little busy lately and I may not be able to return your messages in time.”
“Well, that’s fine.” She agreed, holding back the acidity in the back of her throat.
He wanted to tell her to ignore the vicious comments on the Internet, that these people didn’t know him.
But in the end, there was silence.
Because she knew that Severo Laris, the one she had fallen in love with, was strong inside and didn’t need anyone to pity her.
She was only with him because she liked and loved him, not out of pity.
Each of them remained silent for a long while, but both of them did not tacitly hang up the phone.
After a long while, Severo Laris’ deep voice rang again, “lita.”
“Well, I do.”
Severo Laris paused and said in a muted voice, “Happy holidays. ”
It’s Christmas Eve.
Paula Rouco smiled sweetly, pretending to be relaxed, “Severo Laris, be happy too, not only on Christmas Eve, but every day from now on.”
After a long while, she said, “Good.”
On the other end of the phone, Severo Laris smiles slightly.
Paula Rouco couldn’t hold back the tears and hid under the covers, sniffling when Severo Laris heard her.
“Lita?”
“I’m fine, I just miss you so much.”
How lonely she must have felt to spend Christmas Eve alone at the Imperial and yet endure so much criticism and gossip.
Severo Laris said, “I miss you too.”
Near the end of the call, Paula Rouco said, “Severo, no matter how many people turn against you, I will be with you.”
A warm current flowed through Severo Laris’ heart, very hot and warm.
But she did not know how she could do without it to face the world with him.
This sort of thing is enough for him to come alone.
…
On Christmas Eve night, Severo Laris sat in his hotel, looking out the window at the lights of all the houses, his heart silent and cold.
He went back to the Imperial neighborhood to pick up Costillas.
Leopoldo is no longer in the Imperial neighborhood, probably because his electricity and water were cut off and he could no longer live there and left on his own.
Costillas’ skinny body cowered in a dark corner, and when he saw Severo Laris, he meowed and pounced and ran to Severo Laris’ feet, his two front paws digging into Severo Laris’ pant legs.
Severo Laris bent down and lifted Ribs up.
Ribs leaned on his arms and rubbed hard, in a pout.
Severo Laris rubbed his body fur and asked with lowered eyes, “Have you been hungry in the last few days?”
“Meow~ she must be hungry.”
Severo Laris put it in his bag and closed the door.
Leopoldo didn’t know the combination to the door lock, and this time he left so that the next time he wanted to enter, he would have to open the door for him.
Severo Laris took Costillas back to the hotel.
We bought cat food outside and gave it to Costillas, who had a big appetite and ate a big plate of cat food.
Ribs pouted and stuck out his little tongue and licked his palm.
Severo Laris did not think he would be reduced to such a state, and it was a kitten that accompanied him on Christmas Eve night.
Severo Laris shook his Costillas and muttered, “Thanks to lita for taking you home in the first place.”
Otherwise, he is alone now, without even a cat.
On the other side of the window, fireworks explode loudly in romantic colors.
Severo Laris turns his head and looks out into the night, where there are bright lights, and although it is dark, a faint glow is visible.
Costillas was a little sleepy and blinked as he shrank into his arms.
Severus Laris looked at Ribs with downcast eyes, “Do you miss your mother?”.
“Meow~”
When Lita was around, he had a snack every day, and he ate what Lita ate.
Severo Laris’ long, thick eyelashes narrowed and his eyes haloed with a hint of dejection as his voice murmured, “I miss her too.”
Very tempting.
For the first time in his life, Severo Laris misses someone so much that his thoughts are really like those of modern poetry, with tentacles crawling through his internal organs.
…
Paula Rouco didn’t have a good Christmas Eve night either because of the smear campaign against Severo Laris.
While watching the Spring Fling dinner with the family, I picked up my phone and got into a fight in the bad comments section of Weibo, and dragged Susana and Rufio to post and fight.
Although the results were marginal, it was good to see that some people saw it and liked it.
Adam Rouco was a little displeased with his daughter’s distraction and frowned slightly, “Paulita, tonight is Christmas Eve, what are you doing looking at your cell phone all the time instead of watching TV with grandpa?”
Roberto Rouco adored his granddaughter, put his arm around Paulita and smiled kindly, “Never mind, I’m happy to have Paulita sitting next to me.”
Paulita was a little embarrassed and after tweeting, she put away her lita phone and smiled sweetly at the old man, “Grandpa, I’m going to watch TV with you.”
“Okay.”
Seeing that it was after eleven o’clock, the old man got a little sleepy and went to bed after a late snack.
The sketch was on TV and it wasn’t funny.
Paula Rouco escapes to her room with her cell phone.
Adam Rouco said, “This girl has been distracted all the way back from vacation.”
Estrella Berrocal said, “I’m afraid it’s because of what happened to Severo Laris. ”
“What’s wrong with Severo?” asked Adam Rouco, frowning.
“The matter of Severo and his father, he’s on the hot seat, from what I hear, his father accused him of not supporting him and Severo is a lawyer, so it’s festering on the net and Severo is getting a lot of shit thrown at him.”
Adam Rouco’s eyes flickered slightly, “Where are the Severo’s?”.
“I think he’s still at the Imperial, I heard Paulita say he didn’t go back to La Ciudad Santa. ”
Adam Rouco mused, “It’s still in Severo’s hands for the two of them to cut ties. ”
Estrella Berrocal was stunned, “You mean Severo initiated the breakup?”
“Severo is full of storms right now, and what happened to his father, although he had nothing to do with it, the bloodline is unbreakable, and if Paulita stays with him, the aftermath will be endless, so a quick solution is best.”
Estrella Berrocal sighed, “But Adam, is it really good for us to meddle so much in their relationships, even cutting them off behind their backs?”
“If it had been anyone else I was in love with, I wouldn’t have done it, but it was Leopoldo’s son, Estrella, and what is this hasty relationship of hers compared to Paulita’s well-being.”
But what if, for Paulita, the relationship is serious and deliberate?
