As the torches were all being thrown into the cave and burning, very loud sounds of swarms of screeching bats were heard coming from the cave.
When Eduardo Tercero and his men returned to the camp, a half dead bat flew out of the fire and rushed towards them, Eduardo Tercero cut his arm with the bat trying to protect those around him.
The little soldier next to him used the biochemical agent in his hand and sprayed the half-dead bat several times, killing it completely.
He then lit the lighter and the bat’s body burned.
“Master of the Court, you have a cut on your arm, you need to hurry back to the consultation center to get it taken care of!”.
Edward the Third looked at the bloodstain, his dark eyes deepened and his frown deepened.
…
When they returned to the camp, they ran into Claudio Belles at the entrance who was on his way to fetch them.
“Are you all right, have you been attacked by bats?”.
The attendant beside him said with urgency and concern, “The Court Master’s arm has been severed by a bat, it needs to be attended to urgently!”.
Claudius Belles’ watery eyes blinked, “How you have protected him!”.
Claudio Belles could not resist, although he knew it was not the time for reproaches and that it was useless to hold them responsible for what had happened.
Eduardo Tercero himself calmed down and said instead, “It has nothing to do with them. But you, why haven’t you left?”.
Claudio Belles reached out and took Eduardo Tercero’s hand: “Stop this nonsense now and come with me to have your wound treated!”.
Eduardo Tercero was dragged by Claudio Belles and marched towards the center.
Eduardo Tercero was stunned when he grabbed his hand and looked at the hand he was holding tightly.
After a long moment, he asked, “Aren’t you afraid?”.
At the entrance to the consultation center, Claudio Belles suddenly turned and looked up, his red lips suddenly touched hers, which were thin.
A sudden kiss.
It was so fast that Eduardo Tercero did not even react to push her away.
“You’re not a monster, why should I be afraid of you?”
Eduardo Tercero’s brow furrowed deeply, “Claudio, you know what I’m talking about.”
The woman’s teary, starry eyes looked up at him, “Now that I’ve touched you and kissed you, even if you were quarantined, I’d be quarantined with you.”
“Claudio, you’re crazy.”
“I’m not crazy. I am only trying to prove that you have slandered me.”
Eduardo Tercero froze, and it was then that he remembered, in the morning, his words that had hurt her.
What had he said in a fit of anger?
He had said that she was willing to risk her life for Esteban Zaragosa, but that with him she was reluctant even to stay here at the border.
It was he who was jealous and talked nonsense.
Eduardo Tercero enters the quarantine zone with Claudio Belles.
After Aurelio healed Eduardo Tercero’s wounds, Eduardo Tercero ordered Claudio Belles to undergo tests to make sure he was not infected, and then Eduardo Tercero sent Claudio Belles away.
Claudio Belles did not insist on remaining in the quarantine zone.
In the quarantine zone, Eduardo Tercero saw Claudio Belles leave with a deep, loving look on his face.
It was a look that seemed to take him to the end of the world.
Aurelio looked at Eduardo Tercero and then at Claudio Belles for a few moments before sneering, “That girl, she’s got a lot of nerve, she scratched you by a poison bat and still has the nerve to kiss you.”
Edward the Third’s thin lips curved and his frown took on a faint smile of relief. “Did you see him?”
“He kissed you right here, at the entrance of the consultation center, big brother, it’s made of glass eh, it’s transparent, you can see out, we doctors saw it all.”
Eduardo Tercero looked at the slender back and his eyes shone with affection, “It was very brave.”
Aurelio looked into his master’s unblinking eyes and raised his hand to wave it in front of his eyes, “Are you serious, your master?”.
Edward the Third returned a cold look to Aurelio’s face and displeased him, “Not worthy of my seriousness?”
“Heh, is it because of this woman that His Excellency has been sent to suffer at the frontier? If The Tercero family knew that His Lordship was in danger of contracting the SA virus, they would have had the need to think of this woman.”
“I am here, and I will cut to pieces anyone who dares to touch her.”
Edward the Third said in a lighthearted manner, but there was a stern, murderous aura in his eyes.
Aurelius gagged, for a woman, the court lord had turned his back on all his kin.
This woman was a real scourge.
…
Claudius Belles did not sleep a wink.
Early the next morning he called the medical center.
“How is Eduardo Tercero?”
It was Aurelio who answered the phone.
Aurelio had just taken Eduardo Tercero’s temperature and he had 39, 2 degrees, a high fever.
Aurelio was going to say that the owner only had a high fever and that no other alteration had been detected, so he did not necessarily have the SA virus.
But Aurelio was so stubborn that when the words came out of his mouth, they became, “It’s no good, I had a high fever in the middle of the night, forty degrees, and now the fever won’t go away, and the lymph is swollen in many places, so in all likelihood, I have the SA virus.”
Claudius Belles, on the other end of the phone, was silent for a few seconds and asked in a calm voice, “Have you calculated the SA antibodies?”
Aurelio shrugged, “No, I’m still working on it.”
Doodle doo …
Claudio Belles promptly hung up.
…
Over here, Aurelio had just hung up the phone when Eduardo Tercero took it from him with a split hand.
“Who gave you permission to answer the phone for me?”. The man looked at Aurelio with cold eyes.
Aurelio stretched out his hands, innocent, “You are sick, maestro, so I thought I would answer the phone for you.”
Eduardo Tercero, his eyes dull with fever, asked impatiently, “What did you tell him?”
“Not much, that all was well with the Master of the Court.”
A few moments later, Claudio Belles was running toward the door of the quarantine area.
Eduardo Tercero looked through the large glass façade and fixed his eyes on her, who was outside.
Eduardo Tercero looked into her eyes and asked Aurelio: “Are you sure you told her that everything was okay with me?”
Aurelio: “… Yes”.
“When I walk out this door, I’m going to kill you.”
Aurelio shuddered, this was not a fun game.
Claudio Belles stood in front of the glass door and called Eduardo Tercero’s cell phone.
The two men were talking through a transparent glass.
Claudio Belles stifled his voice and asked, “How are you feeling right now?”
“Fine.”
Claudio Belles looked at the man’s pale, lifeless face and, for some reason, even the strong woman got a lump in her throat. “Are you really all right?”
The cold face had a faint, soft smile as he looked at her, his voice was hoarse with fever, but sultry, “Yes, really, Aurelio is scaring you.”
Claudio Belles sniffled and suddenly called out to him, “Presidente Eduardo.”
Eduardo Tercero leaned toward him, with a nonchalant posture and a slightly languid expression, “Hm?”
“Nothing, I just wanted to call you.”
Eduardo Tercero smiled faintly.
“It’s not necessarily a bad thing for me now that I’m isolated here, Claudio, I haven’t had a break in a long time and now I’m lying here in my bed, sleeping all I want until I’m cleared of infection.”
This was a very special way to comfort Eduardo Tercero, and when Claudio Belles thought about it, he thought he was right.
But … the worry would still be there.
There were some things he didn’t want to say at this moment, it would be too melodramatic, but somehow, at this moment, Claudio Belles wanted to say them.
