I suddenly felt a bit nervous. After all, I had been unknown in the company all the time. If he sat down, I would be a public enemy of the employees.
As a result, Daniell sat on the empty table next to me.
He gave me a smile which told me that he knew what I was worried about.
I felt so warm.
I stayed at the office this afternoon, but instead of working overtime today, I made an appointment to see my client at 5:00.
I was just outside the office when I saw Daniell waving at me in a white sports car. I ran over and he said, “Are you going to meet your customers? Let me drop you off.”
In fact, I knew he lied to me, but I got in the car eventually.
I complained, “Why didn’t you tell me that you came to be the general manager of our company?”
“Why should I tell you?”Daniell was driving, looking ahead with a smile on his face. He said to me, “No matter what my status is, you are always my junior schoolmate.”
His words were warm without any sense of distance.
Soon, we arrived at the community I had agreed with the customer. I thanked him and got out of the car. After watching the car leave, I just entered the community.
The hostess was an obscure starlet, Judy Sophia. She was demanding and pompous. More importantly, she had a lot of unrealistic expectations in the wedding room.
It took me more than three hours to end this pining communication.
When I got out of the community, I saw Daniell’s car parked where I got out. He was standing next to the car, leaning against the door, writing and drawing with a tablet computer in his hand.
I ran to him and asked, “You aren’t going to wait there all the time, are you?”
I took a peek at the design which had already done most of it on his tablet. Even a genius like him would have to work for at least an hour and a half.
But Daniell put the tablet away. He smiled and said, “No, I just ran to a construction site, and I’ll be waiting for you when I get back.”
“You are kidding me.”I exposed him in a playful tone.
Daniell didn’t say anything. He just helped me open the door and put me in his car.”Yes, I have been waiting for a while. Let’s go to dinner together.”
I was hungry at that time. Although I was a little hesitant, I agreed to his waiting for me for so long.
Because it was over 8 o’clock, many restaurants were off duty.
He took me to a Japanese restaurant.
When our order came, I, who normally didn’t mind sushi raw fish, was disgusted by the smell of the fish.
I rushed to the bathroom and threw up to feel better.
When I got back to my seat, Daniell looked at me anxiously and asked, “What is wrong with you?”
I touched my belly and hesitated. Then I said, “I’ve got an upset stomach.”
Daniell believed me. He thought I was working long hours and eating irregularly.
He began to talk to me at the dinner table about the importance of health. He advised me not to work too hard.
I agreed with him.
After dinner, I gave the keys back to Daniell and said, “I’m a little designer. If I live in the company dormitory, I’m sure everyone will be unhappy.”
All he could do was taking the key back and adding, “If you ever need any help, you must remember to ask me for it.”
Daniell sent me to Daisy’s house.
As I was about to leave, I heard someone behind me say, “Thanks to Mr. Cook for seeing my wife home.”
I looked back and saw Sean leaning against the wall. In the dark, the smoke flickered.
