Chapter 17 Not Everyone Can Try on such Expensive Clothes

Book:CEO's Substitute Bride Published:2024-5-1

I have not seen Sean for nearly a month since that day.
Gradually peace returned to life. I am busy with my work schedule to numb myself and forget that I still have such a marriage.
It was my pay day today. Daisy shouted in the morning to buy her dinner.
In order not to keep her waiting, I didn’t work overtime for the first time.
As a result, I just walked out of the office building. A man in a suit approached me and said politely, “I’m Mr. Jessop’s driver. He asked me to pick you up.”
It was time to get off work. People around me looked at me with strange eyes.
For a moment I was in a trance.”Mr. Jessop? Sean Jessop?”
Why did he pick me up?
The driver explained, “The chairman wants to see you. He’s Mr. Jessop’s grandfather.”
When I remember that phone call a month ago, I resist going to see his grandfather. I was afraid Sean Jessop would insult me in front of his grandfather.
But I can’t afford to go.
I had to follow him to the car.
He took me first to the Star Department Store and gave me a silver card to go in and buy a suit.
I didn’t want to take it, but the Star Department Store was the most upscale department store in York. Almost all the world-famous brands can be bought here.
But the price of the clothes inside may not be affordable even if I maxed out my credit card.
And those who come here shopping are fair ladies and celebrities in general.
I was wearing a shabby business suit. As soon as I entered, all the assistants glanced at me and then ignored me.
I didn’t mind at all. After all, I’m not the kind of person who can afford to spend here.
I walked around the mall and stopped at the entrance of a corner brand store because I had heard of all the brands except this one.
So, I thought the clothes in this store were cheap.
I was instantly struck by the beige dress the model was wearing.
The more I saw, the more satisfied I was. I can’t resist trying.
To my surprise, the clerks in this shop are very friendly. When they knew I was going to try it on, they quickly picked up a size I had asked for and invited me into the dressing room.
I changed my clothes and stood in front of the mirror.
It must be said that this dress really suits me as I expected.
I decided to take this dress and asked the clerk, “How much is it?”
The clerk replied respectfully, “Thirty thousand dollars.”
This number made me gasp.
Thirty thousand dollars…
I thought the dress was only a few thousand dollars. It’s over my budget, and I’m afraid Sean Jessop will see it and think I’m vain.
When I was about to go in and change, I saw Molly Carter in the mirror.
She had two bags in her hand, and when the clerk saw her, he went up to greet her warmly.
As he said hello, he turned to me and said to her, “You look just like this guest…”
Molly Carter saw me and looked at my dress again. She reminded the clerk kindly.”Your clothes are so expensive. Why do you give everyone a try? What if she soiled your clothes and couldn’t pay for them?”
The clerk looked at me with a troubled look.
I had no choice but to say, “I will take it.”
Molly Carter was surprised when I said I was going to buy it, but she shut up and said nothing.
I took the silver bank card out of my bag and gave it to the clerk and went in to change clothes.
Molly Carter stood by when I came out.”I didn’t know you had the money to buy this.”
As I handed the clothes to the clerk to pack, I said to Molly Carter,”Yeah, I’m going to see grandpa today, so my husband asked me to buy some clothes.”
After that, I smiled sweetly at her again.
